AccessPointSpacingRecommendations
IfyouhaveaWiFidevicesuchasanAPandwanttouseanotherAPinthevicinityonadifferent
channel,spacetheAPsapproximatelysixfeet(twometers)apart.Thisrecommendeddistanceisbased
ontheassumptionthatbothdevicesoperateintheunlicensedbandand
donottransmitRFenergy
morethan23dB‐thatis,200mW.Ifhigherpowerisused,spacefartherapart.AvoidclusteringtheAPs
ortheantennasfromdifferentAPstogether,sincethiscoulddegradeperformance.
Ifyouhaveotherdevicesthattransmit,moveorseparatethedevicesas
farapartasreasonable.(Thisis
especially important if they operate in the same frequency ranges; for example, frequency hopping
legacyAPsorotherdevicesmayoperatejustbeloworabovethe2.4and5GHzband.)Then,checkfor
interference. Test both types of devices at the same time under
heavy utilization (load), then

Warning: In order to comply with FCC, EU, and EFTA RF exposure limits, antennas should be
located at a minimum of 7.9 inches (20 cm) or more from the body of all persons. See the
