Configuring the Module
Step 3: Configuring PPP Encapsulation
Use the feature ppp command to configure PPP encapsulation:
Router(config)# feature ppp
Step 4: Configuring Cellular Parameters
Use the dialer pool and encapsulation ppp commands to configure cellular parameters:
Router(config)# interest cellular 3/1
Router(config-if)# dialer pool-member 1
Router(config-if)# encapsulation ppp
Step 5: Saving Configuration
Use the shutdown and no shutdown commands to save configuration on the interface:
Router(config)# interface cellular 3/1
Router(config-if)# shutdown
Router(config-if)# no shutdown
show Commands
To view your configurations, use the following show commands:
• show ip interface brief
• show interface cellular 3/1
• show cellular 3/1 ?

all—Display cellular information
–
connection—Display cellular connection status
–
hardware—Display cellular hardware information
–
leds—Display LED information
–
network—Display cellular network information
–
profile—Display cellular interface profile
–
radio—Display cellular radio information
–
band—Display radio band information
show cellular 3/1 all (GSM Module)
Shows consolidated information about the modem, profiles created, radio signal strength, network
security, and so on.
Note The RSSI should be better than -90 dBm for steady and reliable connection.
