New and Updated Features and Functionality
This section of the release notes summarizes the new and updated features and
functionality included in Version 5.3.0.6 of the Sourcefire 3D System.
For detailed information, see the Sourcefire 3D System User Guide, Installation

and Configuration Guide.
Updates to Sourcefire Documentation
The documentation provided for Version 5.3.0.6 includes the following errors:
• The FireSIGHT System User Guide incorrectly states that You can use
Lights-Out Management (LOM) on the default (eth0) management
interface on a Serial Over LAN (SOL) connection to remotely
monitor or manage Series 3 appliances without logging into the
management interface of the appliance when you cannot.
If you attempt to use the same IP address in LOM and your Series 3 device,
the system does not allow you to log into the management interface of the

• The FireSIGHT System User Guide does not reflect that you can now
choose whether to inspect traffic during policy apply. Inspecting traffic
during policy apply on a heavily loaded system may have an impact on
network throughput and latency. If this side effect is not ideal for your
network setup and connectivity is more important than inspection,
unchecking this box will disable inspection temporarily during policy apply
and ensure that no packets are dropped during the procedure. After policy
apply is successful inspection will resume as normal. (144574/CSCze95159,
