C. Compass (only applicable to models equipped with a compass)

This compass function can be used to obtain an approximate determination of

direction based on the location of the sun. This compass can only be used in

the northern hemisphere.

With the dial facing upward, align the hour

hand of the watch with the direction of the sun.

Since the position halfway between the hour

hand and the 12:00 position on the watch dial

corresponds to south, direction can be roughly

determined by aligning the “ S” mark of the

compass with the direction of south as deter-

mined above. This determination is subject to

a certain amount of error, however, depending

on the latitude and season. The compass

should therefore only be used as a rough indi-

cator of direction.

B. Rotating Bezel

The rotating bezel is a rotating ring attached to the watch body. It can be used

to measured elapsed time while diving.

Turn the rotating bezel to the left and align the ““ mark

(zero mark) with the minute hand before starting the dive.

Elapsed time can then be read from the minute marks on

the rotating bezel to which the minute hand is pointing.

Example : In the illustration at right, the rotating bezel

indicates that 10 minutes have elapsed since

the start of the dive (location of the ““ mark).

CAUTION

• The rotating bezel can only be rotated in the counter-clockwise direction to

prevent erroneous operation. Caution : Do not attempt to forcibly rotate the

rotating bezel in the clockwise direction since this can damage it.

• When using the rotating bezel, remember that it should only be used as a

rough indicator of elapsed time and an appropriate margin of safety should

always be allowed.
