III - CATALYTIC CONVERTER
A - ROLE
The catalytic converter is used to increase the temperature of the exhaust gases,
through post-combustion of the unburned hydrocarbons (HC) resulting from post-
injection.
B - DESCRIPTION
Composition of an oxidation catalytic converter:
• a stainless steel envelope,
• a thermal insulator,
• a ceramic honeycombed monolith impregnated with precious metals.
C - LOCATION
The catalytic converter is located immediately after the particle filter.
