REV COUNTER DISPLAY When approaching the maximum engine speed, when the rev counter needle crosses into the red zone, you must engage the next gear up. Total/trip distance recorder When the ignition is switched on, the distance recorder selected when the engine was switched off is displayed. Press button 1 to alternate the distance display: - total with "ODO" displayed, - trip with "TRIP" displayed. To reset the trip recorder to zero, when it is displayed, press and hold button 1.
I I N S T R U M E N T PA N E L Indicator for SensoDrive gearbox IN BRIEF Lever on EASY mode (automatic mode) 8 "E" is displayed when you select this operating mode. It disappears when you change to manual mode. Fuel gauge This indicates the quantity of fuel available : - 1/1, the tank is full. - R, the tank is on reserve. Fuel low When the fuel in the tank is down to the minimum level, the last bar flashes, accompanied by a sound signal. You still have around 5 litres.
WARNING LAMPS Consult a CITROËN dealer. Central STOP warning lamp This flashes for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on. Linked with the warning lamps: - "engine oil pressure", - "coolant temperature", Stop immediately if this lamp comes on with the engine running. Consult a CITROËN dealer. Engine oil pressure warning lamp This comes on each time the ignition is switched on until the engine is started.
WARNING LAMPS I IN BRIEF Electric power steering warning lamp This comes on for a few seconds each time the ignition is switched on. Fixed lighting, when the vehicle is moving, indicates a malfunction of the electric steering system. Consult a CITROËN dealer. 10 Battery charge warning lamp This comes on each time the ignition is switched on, until the engine is started. Fixed lighting, with the engine running, indicates a malfunction. Consult a CITROËN dealer.
SIGNALLING I Rear foglamps LIGHTING CONTROL STALK Front and rear lamps Rotate ring A to select : 3. 1. Lamps off. 2. Sidelamps. Dipped beam / Main beam headlamps. Dipped beam / Main beam Push the stalk away from you for main beam, pull the stalk towards you for dipped beam. Headlamp flash Pull the stalk towards you to flash headlamps. The headlamp flash operates even with the ignition off.
SIGNALLING IN BRIEF I HEADLAMP ADJUSTMENT HAZARD WARNING LAMPS Depending on the loading of your vehicle, it is recommended to adjust the level of the headlamp beams. 0 - 1 or 2 persons in the front seats. - - 3 persons. 1 - 4 persons. 2 - 4 persons + maximum authorised loads. 3 - Driver + maximum authorised loads. Initial adjustment is position 0. Simultaneous operation of the direction indicators.
VISIBILITY Windscreen wipe MIST Single wipe. For a single wipe of the windscreen, push the control upwards then release it. OFF Off. INT Intermittent wipe. LO Normal wipe (moderate rain). HI Fast wipe (heavy rain). Windscreen wash Pull the wiper stalk towards you. IN BRIEF WINDSCREEN WIPER STALK I Rear screen wipe and wash Turn ring A to "ON" for constant wipe. Turn it forwards for rear screen wash during wipe. Rear screen wash Ring A at "OFF" (wiper off). Turn it towards you for rear screen wash.

To reposition the backrest, push it back until the seat locks. Restore the fore/aft adjustment and the desired angle for the backrest. 3. REAR VIEW MIRRORS Exterior rear view mirrors Inside the vehicle, move the lever in all four directions to adjust the rear view mirror. Folding/Deployment For parking, the exterior rear view mirrors can be folded and redeployed manually. Manual interior mirror The lever on the lower edge enables you to place the rear view mirror in either of two positions: Day position: the lever is not visible. Night position (antidazzle): the lever is visible.

After the ignition has been switched on, press or pull control 1. The window stops when you release the control. Always remove the key from the ignition when leaving the vehicle, even for a short time.
KEYS - REMOTE CONTROL Locating your vehicle To locate your vehicle, if you have locked it, in a car park: press button A, the direction indicators come on briefly. The set of keys or the remote control delivered with your vehicle permits a maximum of three new keys to be produced. M : Ignition The following warning lamps should light up : STOP, coolant level and temperature, battery charge, handbrake, engine oil pressure, ABS, driver’s seat belt not fastened, airbag, depollution system.
S T E E R I N G L O C K - I G N I T I O N - S TA R T E R II Steering lock S : After removing the key, turn the steering wheel until the steering is locked. The key can only be removed in position S. A : The steering is unlocked (by turning the key to position A : move the steering wheel slightly if necessary). M : Running position. D : Starting position. For starting and stopping the engine : see "Starting". NEVER REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY STATIONARY.
S TA R T I N G Manual gearbox - Ensure that you are in neutral. - Press on the brake pedal and do not touch the accelerator. - For Diesel engines: turn the key to the ignition on position. Wait for for the preheater warning lamp to go out, if it has come on. - Action the starter by turning the key until the engine starts (not more than ten seconds). - In temperatures lower than 0°C, declutch while the starter is operating to ease starting. Then release the clutch slowly.
SENSODRIVE GEARBOX II SENSODRIVE GEARBOX The five-speed SensoDrive gearbox offers a choice between the comfort of automatic operation or the pleasure of manual gear changing. Driving mode Select the driving mode by moving the gear lever. Reverse "R". This gear will be engaged when stationary or at a speed below approximately 6 km/h (4 mph). Engagement of reverse gear is accompanied by a sound signal and by the flashing of the display "R". Neutral "N".
SENSODRIVE GEARBOX EASY mode (automatic mode) Select position E using the gear lever. The gear engaged is displayed on the instrument panel screen. The gearbox continuously selects the most suitable gear. Manuel mode Place the gear lever in position M, then change up or down through the gears by pressing: - rearwards, "+" to change up, - forwards, "-" to change down. The gear engaged is displayed on the instrument panel screen.
HANDBRAKE - ABS SYSTEM II HANDBRAKE Applying Pull the handbrake to immobilise your vehicle. Releasing Pull on the handle and press the button to release the handbrake. When the vehicle is being driven, illumination of this warning lamp indicates that the handbrake is still on or has not been properly released. When parking on a slope, direct your wheels towards the pavement and pull the handbrake.
E L E C T R O N I C S TA B I L I T Y P R O G R A M M E ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) and ASR (Traction control) These systems are associated with and complementary to the ABS. If there is a discrepancy between the trajectory being taken by the vehicle and that desired by the driver, the ESP system acts automatically on the brake of one or more of the vehicle’s wheels as well as on the engine, in order to bring the vehicle back onto the desired trajectory.
ACCESS THE DOORS III Locking/unlocking a door from inside the vehicle To lock a door, press on button A. To unlock, pull on button A. Remarks: it is possible to lock the vehicle’s doors from the inside but an action on the handle will not unlock the door. Never leave your vehicle without taking your key or remote control with you. Central locking/unlocking from the driver’s side To lock/unlock the vehicle, press/pull button A on the driver’s door.
ACCESS III THE BOOT Locking/unlocking with the key To open the boot, action the lock B by means of the key and lift the boot lid. COURTESY LAMP Locking/unlocking with the remote control The boot can be locked/unlocked by means of the remote control. To open it, press on button C and lift the boot lid. Note: the boot can be locked/ unlocked using control A on the driver’s door. In this position, it comes on when you open the driver’s door. The courtesy lamp is deactivated and is permanently off.

If the control C is in position "0", the air conditioning is off. III The cabin temperature cannot be lower than the ambient temperature unless the air conditioning is operating. For reassurance that your system is functioning correctly, you are recommended to have it checked on a regular basis.
V E N T I L AT I O N - H E AT I N G AIR CONDITIONING III Air inlet Make sure that the exterior air inlet grille and manifold at the base of the windscreen is clean and free of dead leaves, snow, etc.. If you wash the vehicle with a high pressure jet, avoid targeting the air inlet grille. B.
V E N T I L AT I O N - H E AT I N G AIR CONDITIONING E. Adjustment of air distribution Windscreen and side windows. For rapid deicing or demisting of the windscreen and side windows: - place the controls for temperature B and air flow C in the maximum position, - place the control for entry of air D in the "Entry of air" position, - operate the air conditioning by pressing button A. F. Rear screen deicing/demisting When the engine is running, press on the control F, the warning lamp lights up.
R E A R S E AT S III 3-door 5-door REAR SEAT BELTS You should stow the seat belt fastenings in the housings A. 36 REAR SEATS Folding the divided or monoblock backrest: These actions have to be performed at the rear of the vehicle, with the boot open. To fold the backrest : - check that the seat belt is correctly positioned on the side of the backrest, - place the head restraints in the low position (see "Rear head restraints").
R E A R S E AT S REAR HEAD RESTRAINTS The rear head restraints can be removed and have two positions: - high, position for use. - low, stowage position. To raise the head restraint, pull it upwards. To lower it, press lug A then the head restraint. To remove it: - tilt the seat back slightly, - move the head restraint to the high position, - press lug A pulling the head restraint upwards at the same time.
R E A R S E AT S III REAR WINDOWS (5-door) CHILD LOCK To partially open the rear windows, pull the lever then push the window. To close the window, pull then press the lever to lock the window. This prevents the opening of each of the rear doors from the inside. Push control 1 towards the outside of the vehicle. Check the status of this safety device before switching on the ignition.
R E A R S E AT S Deactivation of the passenger airbag To guarantee the safety of your child, it is essential to deactivate the passenger airbag if you are installing a "rear facing" child seat on the front passenger seat. Otherwise the child risks being seriously injured or even killed should the airbag deploy. With the ignition switched off, insert the key into the passenger airbag deactivation switch 1, turn it to the "OFF" position, then retrieve it while maintaining this position.
CHILD RESTRAINTS CHILD SEATS secured by means of the vehicle seat belt III In conformity with Directive 2000/3, this table tells you to what extent each of the seat positions in your vehicle may take a child seat that is secured by means of the vehicle seat belt and approved as "Universal" as a function of the weight of the child. Consult "User Precautions" : the chapter on "Child Safety" at the end of this handbook, in order to ensure that you are installing your child in conditions of maximum safety.
CHILD RESTRAINTS III ISOFIX anchoring points and the ISOFIX fixing system The rear individual seats (1) in your vehicle are equipped with ISOFIX regulation anchoring points. These seat positions are approved in the framework of the new ISOFIX regulations. These are 3 rings at each seat position : - Two "lower" rings a and b, situated between the backrest and the cushion of the vehicle seat, approx. 28 cm apart. - One "upper" ring c, situated at the rear of the vehicle seat, aft of the backrest.
CHILD RESTRAINTS SUMMARY TABLE FOR INSTALLATION OF ISOFIX CHILD SEATS In conformity with the European legislation (ECE 16), this table informs you which of the ISOFIX child seats can be installed in the seat positions equipped with ISOFIX anchoring points in your vehicle. For ISOFIX universal and semi-universal child seats, the ISOFIX size class, designated by a letter between A and G, is indicated on the child seat to the right of the ISOFIX logo.
CHILD RESTRAINTS Incorrect installation of a child seat in a vehicle compromises the protection of the child in the event of a collision. The ISOFIX system enables you to reduce the risks that are posed by poor installation, providing your vehicle with a fitting that is convenient, strong and reliable. The ISOFIX RÖMER Duo It is marketed by CITROËN. It has a top strap and is approved as "ISOFIX universal, weight group B1".

INTERIOR COMFORT III IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE Rear parcel shelf To remove the shelf : - unhook the shelf from its fixing A, - push from below to disengage it from its fixings, - lift then tilt slightly to remove. Stow it : - either behind the rear seats, - or flat in the boot.
RADIO GENERAL FUNCTIONS III AUDIO ADJUSTMENTS On / off With the ignition key in the accessories or ignition position, press on button A to turn the radio on or off. If the engine is not running, the radio switches itself off automatically after about 30 minutes. Press successively on button J to bring up the adjustments for bass (BASS), treble (TREB), front/rear balance (FAD), and left/ right balance (BAL). Once the parameter is displayed, you adjust it by using buttons H and I.
RADIO Reception in stereo As the radio locks on to a station transmitting in stereo, it automatically broadcasts in stereo and the screen displays "ST". If the reception conditions deteriorate, the radio reverts to broadcasting in mono. Selecting radio source Press button D. Selecting a wave band Press successively on button D to select the wavebands FM1, FM2, FM3 and AM. Automatic station search Press twice on button S to select the next station.
RADIO RDS SYSTEM III Using the AF (alternative freqency) function on the FM band RDS (Radio Data System) enables you to continue listening to the same station whatever the frequency it is using in the geographical area where you happen to be. The radio permanently searches for the transmitter which is best placed to broadcast this station. With successive presses on button G, you can activate/ deactivate the function.
RADIO COMPACT DISC SOURCE Selecting CD source After inserting a CD, printed face upwards, the CD player starts to play automatically. If a CD is already inserted, press on button C. Ejecting a CD Press on button B to eject the CD from the player. Random playback of the CD (RAND) With CD source selected, press button L. The tracks of the CD will be played in a random sequence. Another press on L restores normal playback. Random playback mode is deactivated each time the radio is switched off.
RADIO CD CHANGER SOURCE THE CD CHANGER (available as an accessory) It is located under one of the front seats. It can accommodate six CDs. Remove the magazine from the changer via the rear of the seat and insert the CDs, printed face upwards. III Selecting CD changer source Press button C. Selecting a CD Press on button P or Q on the radio to select respectively the previous CD or the next CD. Selecting a track on a CD Press button H to select the next track.
OPENING THE BONNET OPENING THE BONNET Inside the vehicle: open the front door, pull the lever A, located below the dashboard. Outside the vehicle: lift the control B and raise the bonnet. IV Bonnet stay Secure the stay to keep the bonnet open. To close Before closing the bonnet, reposition the stay in its location. Lower the bonnet and then release it to close. Check that it is properly closed. Check that the bonnet is securely locked. Avoid opening it when there are strong winds.

LEVELS Refer to the chapter "User Precautions" CHECKING THE LEVELS Oil level Make this check on a regular basis and top up between oil changes. The vehicle should be on horizontal ground, engine cold. Use the dipstick. Manual dipstick IV There are 2 marks on the gauge : A = Max. B = Min. If you go above the mark A, contact a CITROËN dealer. It is essential for the oil level to remain between A and B.

B AT T E R Y THE BATTERY To recharge using a battery charger: - disconnect the battery, - follow the user instructions provided by the manufacturer of the charger, - reconnect starting with the (-) terminal, - check that the leads and terminals are clean. If they are coated with sulphate (a whitish or greenish deposit), remove them and clean them.
FUSES CHANGING A FUSE The fuse boxes are located under the instrument panel trim and next to the battery in the engine compartment. Removing and fitting a fuse Before changing a fuse, the cause of the incident must be found and rectified. Use the pliers A located in the fuse box under the bonnet. Always replace a faulty fuse with a fuse of the same rating (same colour). Correct Instrument panel fuse boxes These are located on each side of the instrument panel under the trim.

FUSES Engine compartment fuse box Unclip the cover, pressing on the right on lug E, to gain access to the fuses. IV The pliers A and the replacement fuses B are fixed at the front of the box. When you have finished, close the cover carefully.

REFUELLING When you are seeking to fill the tank to the top, do not persist after the third cut-off : that could cause malfunctions. After filling the tank, tighten the cap fully to the right until you hear clicks. It locks automatically without use of the key. Reclose the flap. FILLING THE FUEL TANK Refuelling must be done with the engine switched off. Open the fuel flap. Insert the key then turn it slightly to the left and then back to the right.

REPLACING BULBS Number plate lamps (W 5 W) Pass your hand under the bumper. Remove the bulb holder turning it one quarter of a turn. Remove the bulb and change it. V 64 Third stoplamp (4 W 5 W bulbs) Unscrew the 2 fixing screws A. Release the lamp unit by pushing the two tabs B inwards. Disconnect the connector and the rear wash-wipe pipe. Remove the bulb holder. Remove the bulb and change it.
CHANGING A WHEEL CHANGING A WHEEL Parking the vehicle As far as possible, immobilise the vehicle on level, stable, non-slippery ground. Apply the handbrake, switch off the ignition and engage first gear, reverse or position N for the SensoDrive gearbox. Access to the spare wheel and the jack in the boot Remove the carpet then the plastic cover. Tools The following tools are installed in a carrier, located in the centre of the spare wheel: 1. CHANGING A WHEEL Light alloy wheels If your vehicle is equipped with light alloy wheels and a steel spare wheel, then if fitting the latter it is normal to note that the heads of the wheel bolts do not come to bear on the wheel rim. The steel spare wheel is secured by the conical tapering of the wheel bolts’ shafts, see diagram. When refitting the light alloy wheel, ensure that the wheel bolt heads are in undamaged condition. TOWING - LIFTING With lifting (only two wheels on the ground) It is preferable to lift the vehicle by supporting its wheels. Never use the radiator crossmember. Towing with all four wheels on the ground, gear lever in position N (for SensoDrive gearbox), should only be done at very slow speed over a very short distance (and in conformity with the legislation in force). In all other cases, it is necessary to have your vehicle transported by a recovery truck.
