Distribution of loads
F Distributetheloadinthetrailersothatthe
heaviestitemsareascloseaspossibleto
theaxleandthenoseweightapproaches
themaximumpermittedwithout
exceedingit.
Airdensitydecreaseswithaltitude,thus
reducingengineperformance.Above
1000metres,themaximumtowedloadmust
bereducedby10%forevery1000metresof
altitude.

Side wind
F Takeintoaccounttheincreasedsensitivity
tosidewind.
Cooling
Towingatraileronaslopeincreasesthe
temperatureofthecoolant.
Asthefaniselectricallycontrolled,itscooling
capacityisnotdependentontheenginespeed.
F Tolowertheenginespeed,reduceyour
speed.
Themaximumtowedloadonalongincline
dependsonthegradientandtheambient
temperature.
Inallcases,keepacheckonthecoolant
temperature.
F Ifthewarninglampandthe
STOPwarninglampcomeon,
stopthevehicleandswitchoff
theengineassoonaspossible.
Braking
Towingatrailerincreasesthebrakingdistance.
Toavoidoverheatingofthebrakes,theuseof
enginebrakingisrecommended.
Tyres
F Checkthetyrepressuresofthetowing
vehicleandofthetrailer,observingthe
recommendedpressures.
Lighting
F Checktheelectricallightingandsignalling
onthetrailerandthehadlampbeamheight
ofyourvehicle.
