In the event of a breakdown
Towing
General recommendations
Observethelegislationinforceinyourcountry.
Ensurethattheweightofthetowingvehicleishigherthanthatofthetowedvehicle.
Thedrivermustremainatthewheelofthetowedvehicleandmusthaveavaliddrivinglicence.
Whentowingavehiclewithallfourwheelsontheground,alwaysuseanapprovedtowingarm;
ropeandstrapsareprohibited.
Thetowingvehiclemustmoveoffgently.
Whentowingavehiclewiththeengineoff,thereisnolongeranypowerassistanceforbraking
orsteering.
Inthefollowingcases,youmustalwayscallonaprofessionalrecoveryservice:
- vehiclebrokendownonamotorwayorfastroad,
- four-wheeldrivevehicle,
- whenitisnotpossibletoputthegearboxintoneutral,unlockthesteering,orreleasethe
parkingbrake,
- towingwithonlytwowheelsontheground,
- wherethereisnoapprovedtowingarmavailable...
Procedureforhavingyourvehicletowedorfortowinganothervehicleusingaremovabletowingeye.
The towing eyeisstowedunderthebootfloor,
ormaybelocatedunderthefrontpassenger
seat,dependingonversion.
