8.2 Setting MSL on R-Series Blades

Use needle-nose pliers to move the jumper, as described in the following steps.
1. Power down the blade and remove it from the chassis (if the blade is not in an enclosure—for
example, for maintenance—ensure that power is disconnected).
2. Locate the MSL header:
 R3040S
MSL header JP6 is near the top edge of the motherboard, between the upper set of
memory modules and CPU1, as shown in the following figure.

MSL header JP6 is located below the video card and to the right of the Ethernet port on the
bottom edge of the blade (see the figure below). The CMOS header is to the right of the MSL
header—ensure that you move the jumper on the MSL header.
