User's Guide
Appendix A: Best Practices
110 PCoIP System User’s Guide
cause zero clients to overheat and damage the zero client (ambient temperature around zero
clients should never exceed 35 degrees Celsius). See 4.2 “Mandatory Mounting, Cooling, and
Airflow Provisions” on page 34 for more information.
Power states: zero client, host card, and operating system
Be aware of the power management settings (power states) that your host card supports. For
example, ClearCube host cards support Hibernate power state S4 and Standby (or Sleep)
power state S3, and do not support Sleep power state S1 and Sleep power state S2. If
necessary, you might need to modify your blade operating system image to enable or disable
power management options from Windows operating system Start menu. For more
information, see 5.2 “Power Operations” on page 53.
  Firmware
ClearCube recommends always using the same firmware version on zero clients and host
cards. See PCoIP Firmware Compatibility Guide, available on the ClearCube Support site,
for detailed information about PCoIP firmware versions and compatibility. See 9.2 “Identify
Firmware on Device You Are Updating” on page 105 for information about finding the
firmware version on your device, and for information about updating firmware.
  Audio
If you are using a 64-bit operating system on a host, you must enable an option for 64-bit
audio on the host card. This option is enabled by default. If you are experiencing poor or no
audio output on a host running a 64-bit OS, check this setting. See 6.4.2 “Enabling Audio on
a 64-bit OS” on page 67 for more information.
