Touch-tone dialing
Through the expansion bus (and serial commands), the XAP 400’s touch-tone
(DTMF) dialing capability can be accessed. This allows outbound calls to be initiated
by the XAP 400 without requiring an external dialer or telephone set. This feature
continues to function after connection, enabling the user to issue tones for voice
mail/pager interaction. See Serial Commands on page 114.
Operation ~ Using the Dial Interface
Connect LED. This green LED 
illuminates when the dialing 
interface is active. 
Connect. Click Connect to 
activate the dialing interface.
Keypad Display. Numbers 
dialed on the Dial keypad are 
displayed here.
Dial Keypad. This functions 
as a typical telephone keypad 
and displays the digits being 
dialed in the space above as 
you click on the numbers.
In-Block Dialing. Numbers 
typed on your computer key-
board are displayed here. You
can dial one number at
 a time or a string of numbers. 
Dial. Dial activates when a 
number is entered in the 
In-Block Dialing field. Click it
to Dial the number.
Speed Dial. 10 numbers can 
be stored in Speed Dial. Limit 
20 characters per label.
Dial. Dials the selected 
Speed Dial number.
Re-Null. Sends a short noise 
burst down the telephone line
and forces the XAP 400 to 
adapt to the telephone line for 
maximum telephone echo
cancellation.
Mute Transmit LED. 
Illuminates red when signal
is muted.
Mute Transmit. Mutes the
Transmit Output.
Data LED. Illuminates
Green when connected
to the unit.
Close. Exits the Dial 
Interface.
Disconnect LED. This red LED 
illuminates when the dialing 
interface is inactive.
Disconnect. Click Disconnect 
to terminate a call.
View Last #. Displays the last
number called.
Edit. Allows you to add/modify
Speed Dial numbers.
Hook Flash. Sends a momen-
tary interruption in the line 
seizure, allowing options such 
as 3-way calling, call waiting, 
and call hold. This feature is 
dependent on the services 
offered by your telephone 
company.
Mute Receive LED. 
Illuminates red when signal
is muted.
Mute Receive. Mutes the
Receive Input.
