RECOVERING FROM AN INTERRUPTED FIRMWARE UPDATE
If a firmware update was interrupted (such as by a power loss or an accidental cable disconnection), the
CHAT 160 might become unstable. The CHAT 160 boots in generic mode and the
GGeenneerriicc MMooddee
screen
appears.
Use the following procedure to recover from interrupted firmware updates and unexpected programming
errors:
1. Disconnect the USB 2.0 cable from the CHAT 160, hold down the
MMuuttee
button while reconnecting the
CHAT 160, and follow the on-screen instructions.
2. The
GGeenneerriicc MMooddee
recovery screen appears . To perform the firmware update, click the
UUppddaattee
FFiirrmmwwaarree
button (see the
Update Firmware & Database
section in
Chapter 3: Using The CHAT
Application
for detailed instructions). The messages “Initializing” and “Recovering” appear above the
progress bar, followed by the typical messages that appear during a firmware update. The update
then continues to completion.
3. The CHAT 160 also attempts to recover from a programming error by booting up in Generic (DFU)
mode. In this case, follow the on-screen instructions.
