About this manual This is the instruction manual for 1 Channel Mobile DVR, Model MVR1020. This manual describes how to install and operate the MVR1020 and provide information regarding specifications and features of this product. Please be sure to read this manual and follow the instructions when installing the MVR1020. If you have any questions or problems installing, please contact Clover Electronics at 877-327-5000.
1. Unpacking When unpacking the DVR Unit, please be cautious not to drop, throw or hit with force. This may cause damage to the product that could lead to malfunctions. Before Installation please check if the following objects are included.

4. Installation 4-1. What to do before Installation Make sure all the required hardware is available. - 1 Channel Mobile DVR unit (requires installing a CF Card) - Camera (including power for camera unit) - TV or Composite monitor Connect a camera to the DVR unit and the DVR unit to the monitor (video output device). Connect DC power from vehicle to the DVR --- pay attention to the polarity (Refer to section 4-2 for more information).
4-2. How to Connect DC power to DVR unit (Rear View) A or ○ B ○ 4-2-1. When Installing the DVR in a Vehicle Cut out the DC jack on the provided DC power wires as shown in Fig.4-1, and then connect wires as follows. GROUND: Connect the BLACK colored wire to vehicle’s chassis (Do not connect it to the gas tank or the airbag area). DC 9V TO 40V (HOT): Connect the RED colored wire to the DC power line that supplies DC 12V or DC 24V when ignition switch is in the “ON” position. Red Fuse (250V.

When Using the DVR for Security Purpose ▪ Connect the 4pin connector with 2 wires in polarity to the power in jack on the rear panel of the DVR. ▪ Connect DC 12V or DC24V, 3A AC adapter (not supplied: Switching Power Supply, center: +, outer: ground) to the DC jack on the provided DC power wires shown in Fig.4-2. How to Install the Mounting Bracket for DVR ▪ Unscrew 2-locking screw knobs and 4 screws on both sides of the DVR. ▪ Attach the mounting bracket onto both sides of DVR and secure them with the screws (See Fig. 4-3). ▪ If necessary, install the DVR with the mounting brackets to proper place in your vehicle. 4-5. Controls and Connectors on the DVR 4-5-1. Front ② ① ③ ④ ⑤ Fig.4-4 Front View 1) PWR LED: Red light is lit when the power is ON 2) REC & PLAY LED: Green light will be blinking when the system is in the recording or replaying mode, turn off during live mode. 3) REC Button: Press this button to start recording. To stop recording, press this button again. 4) LIST: Recording lists (up to 990 lists) will display when this button is pressed. Press this button again to exit.

Rear ⑤ ① ③ ② ④ Fig.4-6 Rear View 1) Video IN/OUT Connect a camera to the Video Input (RCA Connector) and a monitor to the Video Output (RCA Connector) on the rear panel of the unit as shown in Fig.4-6. 2) Audio IN/OUT If necessary, connect a microphone to the Audio Input (RCA Connector) and a speaker to the Audio Output (RCA Connector) on the rear panel of the unit.
3) Alarm IN/OUT Connect a Normally Open (N.O.) sensor to the Alarm Input and a Normally Open (N.O.) sensor or Normally Close (N.C.) sensor to the Alarm Output depending on your application. 4) IR Remote Control Extender (Optional) Plug the IR remote control extender to the jack in order to extend the remote control distance. 5) 4-pin Power Connector Refer to section 4-2.

5. HOW TO OPERATE 5-1. General Operation You can operate the functions of the system by using the buttons located on the front panel of the DVR unit, as well as the remote controller. The system status is indicated by either the LED lights or the monitor.
5-2. Running for the First Time (Initializing) When you turn on the power for the first time, the screen will be shown as below. ② 1 ○ Fig.5-1Initializing ① : Displays CF Card capacity available for recording. ② : Displays firmware version. ③ : Displays the date and time on the top of screen. ③ Fig.5-2 Error Message Note If a CF Card is not in the DVR, the error message “MEM. ERROR” will display on the screen as shown Fig. 5-2.

Setup - Press the MENU button on the front panel or the remote controller to setup the menus, the screen shown in Fig.5-4 will be displayed. - Press the MENU button again to return to the previous menu. ① Capacity of CF Card ② Version of System ③ Icons Fig.5-4 Menu Icons - Choose one of menus by using the ◀▶ button and press the ▼ or ▲ button to setup the menus.
5-4-1. Time/Date - Choose the TIME menu by using the ◀▶ button. - Press the ▼ or ▲ button, the TIME/DATE menu shown in Fig. 5-5 will display. Fig.5-5 Time/Date Menu - Select the values (year/month/date/hour/minute) by using the ◀▶ button, change the values with the ▼ or ▲ button. Selected values (or items) will be highlighted in yellow. Display - Select the DISPLAY in the Time/Date menu by using the ◀▶ button and select YES or NO with the ▼ or ▲ button.
5-4-2. FA./CF - Choose the FA./CF menu by using the ◀▶ button. - Press the ▼ or ▲ button, the FA./CF menu shown in Fig. 5-6 will display. Fig.5-6 FA./CF Menu Factory Set - Select the FACTORY SET in the FA./CF menu by using the ◀▶ button and select YES or NO with the ▼ or ▲ button. Selected item will be highlighted in yellow. - Select “YES” and then press the PLAY button on the front panel or the remote controller for factory default settings. CF Format - Select the CF FORMAT in the FA.
REC List Clear - Select the REC LIST CLEAR in the FA./CF menu by using the ◀▶ button and select YES or NO with the ▼ or ▲ button. Selected item will be highlighted in yellow. - Select “YES” and then press the PLAY button on the front panel or the remote controller for deleting the recording lists.
5-4-3. Record - Choose the RECORD menu by using the ◀▶ button. - Press the ▼ or ▲ button, the RECORD menu shown in Fig. 5-7 will display. Fig.5-7 Record Menu Fig.5-7 Record Menu Quality - Select the QUALITY in the RECORD menu by using the ◀▶ button and select one of recording qualities among High+, High, Middle, Low and Lowwith the ▼ or ▲ button. Selected item will be highlighted in yellow. The higher the level selected (e.g. High+), the better display quality is but the larger the data becomes.
Event REC Time - Select the EVENT REC TIME (Event Recording Time by Alarm or Motion Detection) in the RECORD menu by using the ◀▶ button and select an event recording time (1 to 99 seconds) with the ▼ or ▲ button. Selected item will be highlighted in yellow. Resolution - Select the RESOLUTION in the RECORD menu by using the ◀▶ button and select 720 x 480 or 360 x 480 with the ▼ or ▲ button. Selected item will be highlighted in yellow.
5-4-4. Motion/Alarm - Choose the RECORD menu by using the ◀▶ button. - Press the ▼ or ▲ button, the MOTION/ALARM menu shown in Fig. 5-9 will be displayed. Fig.5-9 Motion/Alarm Menu Sensitivity - Select the SENSITIVITY in the MOTION/ALARM menu by using the ◀▶ button and select one of sensitivities among Very high, High, Middle, Low and Very low with the ▼ or ▲ button. Selected item will be highlighted in yellow.

5-5. Recording There are four kinds of recording available in this system. - Manual recording: Continuous recording - Alarm recording: Recording by alarm sensors - Motion recording: Recording by motion detection - Alarm & Motion recording: Recording by alarm sensors and motion detection simultaneously. 5-5-1. Manual (Continuous) Recording The user can manually start recording the video footage by pressing the REC (Recording) button on the front panel or the remote controller.
5-5-3. Motion Recording The system will automatically start recording only when motions of object are detected. - Setup the AREA (motion area) in the MOTION/ALARM menu (See section 5-4-4 for more details). - Press REC button on the front panel or the remote controller. 5-5-4. Alarm & Motion Recording Refer to section 5-5-2 and 5-5-3. - Fig.5-12 shows that any of alarm or motion detection is not activated and the icons in white on the bottom of screen are displayed. - Fig.
5-6. Playback The screen shown in Fig.5-14 will appear if the PLAY button on either the front panel or the remote controller is pressed in the live mode. Fig.5-14 Screen in Playback Menu 5-6-1. Replaying from the first - In order to replay from the first recording time, select the REPLAYING FROM THE FIRST in the PLAY menu as shown in Fig.5-14 by using the ◀▶ button. - Press the PLAY button to playback (See Fig.5-15). - Press the ◀ button or the MENU button to exit. 5-6-2.

Search by Recording Lists - Press the LIST button on the front panel or the remote controller, up to 990 recording lists will be displayed as shown in Fig. 5-16. - Select one of the lists by using the ◀▶ button, the selected list will be highlighted in yellow. - Press the PLAY button to playback.

6. VIEWER 6-1. CF Card Viewer Installation Install the program in your PC by using the supplied CD as follows. - Start the Operating System (Windows XP/VISTA). - Insert the program CD into CD-ROM drive. - Open My Computer, and then select CD-ROM drive. - Double click Setup.Exe. The software installation will begin. Fig.6-1 Installation of CFCard Viewer - Click “NEXT” button in Fig.6-1.

After installing, the CFCardViewer shown in Fig.6-4 will be displayed on the screen. Fig.6-4 Installation of CFCard Viewer Fig.
The Icon of CFCard Viewer will be created on the desktop as shown in Fig.6-6. Fig.6-6 Icon for CFCard Viewer 6-2. CFCard Viewer By CFCard Viewer you can view the recorded data, save it to a PC and convert it to AVI file format. - Insert the CFCard that contains the record data to the provided USB 2.0 Card Reader. - Connect the provided USB cable to the USB 2.0 Card Reader and PC. - Double click the Icon of CFCard Viewer on the desktop, and then the screen shown in Fig.6-7 will be displayed. - Click the USB device (CFCard) on the upper right hand corner of the screen to select (See Fig.6-8). - To exit, click on the upper right hand corner of the screen, press ESC or ALT+F4 button on your key board. Playback - After selecting the USB device (CF Card), click the DVR as shown in Fig.6-9. - Select the Date (year/month/day) on the calendar by clicking the highlighted character in blue that contains the recorded data.
Fig.6-10 Playing Speed Control Adjust Audio Volume: Click the VOLUME button in Fig.6-11, and then adjust audio volume by clicking the slider and dragging it or clicking the bar. It is available at the normal playing speed. Click the VOLUME button again to make it “Mute”. Fig.6-11 Audio Volume 6-2-2. Backup - Click the Save button shown in Fig.6-12 while the system is in the playback mode (Refer to section 6-2-1).
6-2-3. AVI File Converting - Click the AVI and Save button shown in Fig.6-13 while the system is in the playback mode (Refer to section 6-2-1). - The AVI file will be saved in the CFCard_DVR_BK folder (C:\CFCard_DVR_BK). - To play, double-click one of the AVI files (Open Windows Explorer – click My computer – click “C” dive – click CFCard_DVR_BK folder. Print Button - Click the Print button shown in Fig.6-15 on the CF Card Viewer, and then the print window (See Fig.6-16) that contains current printing time, record time and CF Card ID will display. - Press the Print button in Fig.6-16 to print out the current images. Other Buttons - To display a full screen, click “1 x 1” button or double-click on one of split screens. - To display split screens, click “2 x 2” button or double-click on a full screen. - Select NTSC or PAL by clicking depends on your country’s broadcasting system (NTSC in U.S.A.).
6-3. Raw Data Backup Raw Data Backup is to save all the recorded data or partial data that stored in CF Card in your PC. - Click the USB device (CFCard) on the upper right hand corner of the CFCard Viewer to select (See Section 6-2 for more details). - Click the Raw Data Backup button shown in Fig.6-17 if you wish to save all the recorded data in your PC, and then the saving progressive bar along with percentage will appear as shown in Fig.6-18.

6-4. Backup Viewer - Double click the Icon of Backup Viewer on the desktop, and then the screen shown in Fig.6-22 will be displayed. Fig.6-22 Backup Viewer To playback, click one of the backup files and drag & drop to one of split screens as shown in Fig.6-23.
