Decalcifying
The appliance must be decalci ed from time to time. The frequency of how often your appli-
ance must be decalci ed depends on the hardness of your water and how often you use the
appliance.
Use a commercially available decalci er for decalcifying the appliance and follow the manu-
facturer’s instructions on using the decalci er.
Decalcify the appliance if...
...you notice increased noise during use.
...the appliance emits an excessive amount of steam during use.
...the appliance’s brewing process takes longer.
...if the appliance no longer pumps water out of the water tank although it is full.
In the event of regular use, the appliance should be decalci ed...
...once a year if you live in an area with low water hardness.
...every three months if you live in an area with moderate water hardness.
...every month if you live in an area with high water hardness.
Troubleshooting
If the appliance is not working properly, please check whether you are able to rectify the
problem yourself. Otherwise contact customer service. Do not attempt to repair a defective
appliance yourself!
Problem Potential cause/solution
The appliance is not working.
Is the appliance activated?
Is the plug properly connected with the socket?
Is the socket defective? Try another socket.
Check the fuse for your mains connection.
The lter insert over ows.
• The permanent lter has not been inserted properly.
• The lter insert is not correctly seated in the appli-
ance.
• The insulated ask is not correctly positioned on the
heating plate.
There is too much coffee in the lter.
The valve on the lter is plugged or broken.
The appliance does not brew
any coffee and/or only brews
coffee very slowly.
There is no water in the water tank.
There are no coffee grounds in the lter.
• The lter insert is not correctly inserted in the appli-
ance.
The coffee is ground too ne and plugs the lter.
The appliance must be decalci ed.
