Part #131
Revised 5/10/11
Post Installation Maintenance:
Camshaft drive belts should be replaced after all races of 500 miles or more. In short track racing, the
belt should be replaced every 2000 laps and/or during scheduled engine rebuilds. In drag racing
applications, COMP® recommends changing the drive belt as part of a routine engine rebuild or at
least once during the racing season. Replacement drive belts are relatively inexpensive and can be
changed at any time as long as the recommended replacement interval is not exceeded.
When the engine is torn down for repair, the belt should be inspected for signs of rubbing against the
engine block or timing cover. The tooth area of the belt should also be inspected for evidence of any
chemical reaction with the engine oil.
