Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundapplicationsareused.The
applicationsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareallowedtochangethesettings
themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallytheapplicationhasslidersavailable
tocontrolthesoundfromwithintheapplication.
•Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
•Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundintheVolumeMixerwindow.
Solution:Usethehardwarevolumecontrol.Thisisbecausethebuilt-insynthesizersoftwaredoes
notsupportthecontrol.
•Problem:ThesoundcannotbeturnedoffcompletelyevenifyousettheVolumeMixercontrolatminimum.
Solution:Toturnoffthesoundcompletely,gototheVolumeMixercontrolbyclickingthespeakericonin
theWindowsnoticationarea,thenclickMixer.ClicktheMuteSpeakericons.
•Problem:Whenyouconnectaheadphonetoyourcomputerwhileplayingsound,aspeakerdoesnot
producesoundintheMULTI-STREAMmodeatRealtekHDAudioManager.
Solution:Oncetheheadphoneisattached,thestreamingisautomaticallyredirectedtoit.Ifyouwant
tolistentosoundfromthespeakersagain,besuretosetthosespeakersasthedefaultdevice.The
procedureisasfollows:
1.Movethecursortothetop-rightorbottom-rightcornerofthescreentodisplaythecharms.Click
Settings➙ControlPanel➙HardwareandSound➙RealtekHDAudioManager.
2.Lookatthetabsofplaybackdevices.Ifyouhaveattachedaheadphone,theheadphonewillbe
automaticallysetasthedefaultdevice,andtheheadphoneiconwillbechecked.
3.Tosetadifferentdeviceasthedefault,clickSetDefaultDeviceontheSpeakertab,andselectSet
DefaultDevice.Then,thatspeakertabiconwillnowhaveacheckmark.
4.PlayanysoundbyuseofamusicprogramsuchasWindowsMediaPlayer.Ensurethatsound
comesfromthespeakers.

Batteryandpowerproblems

Batteryproblems
•Problem:Thebatterypackcannotbefullychargedinthestandardchargetimewhenthecomputeris
poweredoff.
Solution:Thebatterypackmightbeover-discharged.Dothefollowing:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Ensurethattheover-dischargedbatterypackisinthecomputer.
3.Connecttheacpoweradaptertothecomputerandletitcharge.
Ifaquickchargerisavailable,useittochargetheover-dischargedbatterypack.
Ifthebatterypackcannotbefullychargedin24hours,useanewbatterypack.
•Problem:Yourcomputershutsdownbeforethebatterystatusindicatorshowsempty,oryourcomputer
operatesafterthebatterystatusindicatorshowsempty.
Solution:Dischargeandrechargethebatterypack.
