Settingthesecuritychip
Strictsecurityrequirementsareimposedonnetworkclientcomputersthattransferconfidentialinformation
electronically.Dependingontheoptionsyouordered,yourtabletmighthaveanembeddedsecuritychip,a
cryptographicmicroprocessor.
Settingthesecuritychip
ThechoicesofferedontheSecurityChipsubmenuundertheSecuritymenuoftheThinkPadTabletSetup
programarethefollowing:
•SecurityChipSelection:selectthesecuritychipyouwanttouse.
•SecurityChip:activate,inactivate,ordisablethesecuritychip.
•ClearSecurityChip:cleartheencryptionkey.
Notes:
1.EnsurethatthesupervisorpasswordhasbeensetintheThinkPadTabletSetupprogram.Otherwise
anyonecanchangethesettingsforthesecuritychip.
2.Ifthesecuritychipisremovedorreplaced,oranewonehasbeenadded,thetabletwillnotstart.You
willhearfourcyclesoffourbeepseach.
3.Ifthesecuritychipisinactiveordisabled,theClearSecurityChipoptionwillnotbedisplayed.
4.Whenyouclearthesecuritychip,besuretoturnyourtabletoffandthenturnitonagainafteryouset
thesecuritychiptoActive.Otherwise,theClearSecurityChipoptionisnotdisplayed.
TosetanitemontheSecurityChipsubmenu,dothefollowing:
1.Printtheseinstructions.
2.Saveallopenfiles,andexitallapplications.
3.Pressthepowerbuttonandthevolume-upbuttonatthesametimewhenyouturnonthetablet.The
ThinkPadTabletSetupprogrammenuopens.
