thebasiclayerofsoftwarebuiltintoyourtablet.TheUEFIBIOStranslatestheinstructionsfromother
softwarelayers.
YoucanupdatetheUEFIBIOSandtheThinkPadTabletSetupprogrambystartingyourtabletwithaflash
updateapplicationrunningintheWindowsenvironment.
Whenyouaddsoftware,hardware,oradevicedriver,youcanconsiderupdatingyourUEFIBIOSforthe
newadditiontoworkproperly.

Thismanageabilityenablesyoutooperateclienttabletsremotelyinthesamewayasyouoperateyourown
tablet,suchasturningonaclienttablet,formattingtheharddiskdrive,andinstallingsoftware.

ThesystemUEFIBIOSofyourtabletsupportsaninterfacecalledSystemManagementBIOSReference
Specification(SMBIOS)V2.6.1.TheSMBIOSprovidesinformationaboutthehardwarecomponentsof
yoursystem.ItistheresponsibilityoftheBIOStosupplythisdatabasewithinformationaboutitselfand
thedevicesonthesystemboard.Thisspecificationdocumentsthestandardsforgettingaccesstothis
BIOSinformation.
AssetIDEEPROM
TheAssetIDEEPROMcontainsinformationaboutthesystem,includingitsconfigurationandtheserial
numbersofkeycomponents.Italsoincludesanumberofblankfieldsinwhichyoucanrecordinformation
abouttheendusersinyournetwork.
PrebooteXecutionEnvironment
ThePrebooteXecutionEnvironment(PXE)technologymakesthetabletmoremanageablebyenabling
thetablettostartfromaserver.Forexample,withtheappropriateLANcard,yourtabletcanbestarted
fromthePXEserver.
