Installingorremovingasmartcard
Attention:Beforeinstallingorremovingasmartcard,ensurethatyouobservethefollowingprecautions:
•Beforeyoustart,read“Staticelectricityprevention”onpage123
.
•Whendataisbeingtransferred,donotputyourcomputerintosleeporhibernationmodeanddonot
performanyinstallationorremovalactions.Otherwise,yourdatacouldgetdamaged.
•Donotremoveasmartcardwhilethecomputerisinsleeporhibernationmode.Otherwise,thesystem
mightnotrespondwhenyoutrytoresumeoperation.
Toinstallasmartcard:Holdthesmartcardincorrectorientationandtheninsertitfirmlyintotheslotin
thesmartcardreader.
Toremoveasmartcard:Exitallprogramsthatareworkingwiththesmartcardfirst.Otherwise,data
onthesmartcardmightgetdamagedorlost.Pullthesmartcardoutwardalittlebitandthenslideit
completelyoutoftheslot.
Afteryouinstallasmartcard,dothefollowingtoenabletheplug-and-playfeatureforthesmartcard:
1.GotoControlPanel,andensurethatyouviewControlPanelbyCategory.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconfirmation.
4.FromtheActionmenu,selectAddlegacyhardware.TheAddHardwareWizardstarts.
5.Followtheinstructionsonthescreen.
