ENERGIZER LEADS WORLD IN BATTERY POWER FOR DIGITAL CAMERAS
ST. LOUIS, MO—January 7, 2004—Energizer has led the power race in digital photography
since it introduced the first 1.5 volt lithium AA battery more than ten years ago. It now laps
its competition with the announcement of further power improvements, a new product
offering and enhancements to its rechargeable and titanium lines.

Lithium, the world’s longest-lasting AA battery now lasts up to 7x longer in
digital cameras.* It takes up to 350 pictures versus 54 pictures with standard alkaline
batteries. (*vs. ordinary alkaline, proposed ANSI test. Results vary by camera.)
When they were introduced in 1992, the high performance batteries were primarily used by
professional photographers in their digital cameras. Today, consumers are driving digital
camera sales; now outpacing the sale of film cameras. Almost two-thirds of these cameras are
currently powered by AA batteries, making the Energizer e

 Lithium the ideal battery choice.
In addition, it cost about $.02 per photo with the lithium batteries versus almost $.05 per
photo for standard alkaline batteries making them a good value as well.
“Consumers are now discovering what professionals have known for a decade. When it comes
to digital photography, lithium AA batteries are the only way to go,” says Rich Clarkson,
photographer and former Director of Photography for National Geographic. “I applaud
Energizer for pioneering that technology—it has made all the difference when it comes to
digital imaging.”

® Lithium batteries operate well in
temperature extremes from -40 degrees F to 140 degrees F. They weigh a third less than
alkaline AA, which makes a significant difference is small, lightweight cameras. The batteries
are made with a special construction that prevents the possibility of leakage and are sold in 2,
4 and 8 packs. They have a 15-year shelf life, the longest in the battery category.
