Technical Specifications
Important fire safety information for the building trades, specifiers,
professionals and do-it-yourself installers:
When rigid vinyl siding is exposed to significant heat or flame, the vinyl will soften,
sag, melt, or burn and may thereby expose the material underneath. Care must be
exercised when selecting underlay materials because many underlays are made from
organics that are combustible. You should ascertain the fire properties of any underlay
prior to installation. All building materials should be installed in accordance with local,
state and federal building codes and fire regulations.
WINDLOAD PROPERTIES
All Gentek siding products are designed to withstand a minimum of 100 mph windloads
and are suitable for most areas. The products can be used in areas with higher windloads,
but installation procedures, choice of product and building code jurisdiction are important
factors to be considered. The windspeed rating (in mph) is calculated using VSI’s
windspeed calculation guidelines. Additional information is available if required.
