Symbols:
The symbol with the flash in the triangle is used when your health is at risk,
e.g. from electric shock.
This symbol with the exclamation mark in a triangle indicates a particular risk in handling,
operation or controlling of the product.
The “Hand” symbol indicates special advice and operating information.
Safety Instructions:
In case of any damage caused due to failure to observe these operating instructions the
guarantee/warranty will expire! We do not assume any responsibility for consequential damage!
We assume no liability for any property damage or injury to persons caused by incorrect handling
or failure to observe the safety instructions.
In such cases the warrenty/guarantee is void.
Conversion and/or modification of the product is prohibited for safety and approval reasons (CE). Power is supplied
by a 230V/AC 50 Hz wall outlet (connection material present). Connection and commissioning must be performed
by a specialist with the respective electrotechnical training. The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the
reach of children. Never touch the product during or right after operation. There is the risk of a fatal electric shock!
The phase control is only suitable for dry indoor use. Never overload the product (observe connection power as
indicated in the technical data at the end of these operating instructions!). Do not leave packaging material
unattended. It may become a dangerous toy for children. Handle the product with care. It can be damaged through
impact, blows or when dropped even from a low height. Stop operating the product if there is any damage to it!
If the product is still connected to the mains voltage, do not touch the phase control or the connection lines.
Power down the voltage supply first (switch off circuit breaker). Take the product to a specialist workshop or
dispose of it in an environmentally friendly way. Live components may be exposed if components are removed.
Connection points may also be live. Before adjustment, maintenance, repair or replacement of parts or assemblies,
disconnect the device from all voltage sources. If maintenance or repair of the device under voltage cannot be
avoided, it must only be performed by a specialist with the associated danger and the respective provisions.
It must be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if:
- the device shows visible damage,
- the device no longer works and
- the device was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- after the device has been exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport
On commercial premises, the relevant accident prevention regulations of the relevant professional insurance
association for electrical systems and operating materials are to be observed. If the product is used at schools,
training facilities, do-it-yourself or hobby workshops, it has to be supervised by trained personnel.
This product fulfils the applicable national and European specifications. All included company names and
product names are trademarks of the respective owners. All rights reserved.
The PAD 500 has no galvanic isolation. Thus, all components can be under mainspower. This also includes the
heatsink and the potentiometer connections. Capacitators in the device may still carry voltage even though they
have been disconnected from all voltage sources. The potentiometer (device and axis) must be made of plastic.
The same applies for any knob. Unit installation and replacing the fuse with one of the same typs must be
performed while the device is powered down. Only a specialist with the applicable safety provisions and
regulations must perform this work.
Casing:
The PAD 500 must be installed in a polycarbonate casing protected from touch according to the respective VDE
provisions (VDE 0100, VDE 0701) before commissioning! Ensure sufficient ventilation. Before this, the unit must not
be connected to the mainspower!
