Installation Guide

The universal clamping mechanism is nested inside the chimney caps cage for shipping. To install the cap, it must be dropped into
operating position.
1) Remove the lid by unscrewing the top wing nut. Reach inside the cage and turn the two (2) wing nuts, on the threaded crossbar,
towards the center post.
2) Slide the clamps (the single and double ngered devices) towards the center. They may be stuck to the cage due to the painting
process but should loosen with moderate pressure.
3) Allow the clamps to drop down below the base of the cage.
4) Place cage on the top of the ue (opening in the top of the chimney) with the clamps hanging down inside the ue.
5) Center cage over ue opening.
6) Reach down into the cage and turn the wing nuts towards the clamps, causing the clamps to contact the inside of the ue. By
tightening the wing nuts against the clamps equally, you will center the chimney cap on the ue.
7) Hand tighten the two wing nuts securely. There is no need to use tools to secure the clamps as this may apply excessive force and
may compromise the clamping system.
8) After hand tightening the clamps, try to lift the cage o of the ue. It should not move. If it does, loosen clamps and reposition
them making sure that all three (3) points of the clamping mechanism contact the ue tile equally. This is very important! The uneven
application of the grippers will not allow the clamps to hold securely.
9) Reinstall the lid, using wing nut.
