Definition of Message Elements
“STX” Signals the start of a transmission (Host/CX-1200)
“Length” Length of complete message in bytes including STX, ETX, & CRC
“Address” Address of the CX-1200
“Function” Defines the data structure that is expected to follow and what action the CX-
1200 will take.
“Message Error” This is a general transmission error response from the CX-1200.
“Data Field” A field of variable length which contains the data for the function requested.
The Data Field is defined for individual functions through out the following
section.
“ETX” Signals the end of a data transmission (Host/CX-1200)
“CRC” (Cyclic Redundancy Check) The CRC is calculated and sent with each
transmission. It includes all message data except the STX byte. The data
stream is checked against the CRC at the receiving end.
“Resolution Character” (Res) An ASCII character, in the range of “0-9”, that indicates the number of digits
to the right of the decimal point for the value.
