1 Getting Started • What Can I do with my Camera? Capture Enjoy point & shoot operation. Take pictures underwater with a waterproof case. Set Up Select various camera and video settings. Communicate Use the camera as a web camera. • What can I do with my Digital Pictures? View View pictures on a computer using the Arcsoft® Software supplied. Save Save pictures to the computer memory. Communicate Send the pictures over the Internet to family and friends.
• Attaching the Rubber Strap • Battery Guidelines • Never use manganese batteries. • Battery life differs greatly by manufacturers. • Battery life is greatly affected by how much you use the flash, Operation LCD and other functions, and how long you leave the power turned on. • To prolong battery life, use the Flash button to turn off the flash whenever you are not using it. NOTE: For more guidelines on battery usage, see Using Your Batteries.
2 Camera Setting • Checking Camera Status Switch the camera on, view the camera LCD screen to check which camera settings are active. If the feature icon is not displayed, it means that particular feature is not activated.
3 Taking and Managing the Pictures Before you take pictures, please read this note first: NOTE: Never remove batteries from the camera, or unplug the adaptor while a picture is being saved. Doing so will prevent the current picture being saved and may corrupt other pictures already stored in the memory. • Taking a Picture 1. Turn on the camera. You can see “Camera” appears on the Status LCD. It means that it is in Still Picture mode and ready to take pictures.
• Setting Self-timer Your camera is designed with a self-timer function which will allow you to take pictures with the 10 second built-in timer. Self-timer function is only applied to next picture. Please place the camera on a flat surface or use a tripod (not included) for the Self-timer function. 1. 2. Turn on the camera. Press Menu button once to enter Self-timer mode. Press the Shutter button to perform self-timer.
5 Managing Pictures, Audio and Video Clips • Deleting last Picture, Audio or Video Clip 1. Turn on the camera. 2. Press Menu button five times, the Status LCD shows the no. of pictures, audio and video clips stored in the internal memory and the icon “ “ as shown. 3. Hold the Shutter button until the no. of pictures on the Status LCD decreased by one, the last picture, audio or video clip stored in the internal memory will be deleted. • Deleting All Pictures, Audio and Video Clips 1. Turn on the camera.
• Using the Rubber Ring Please check the rubber ring before using. Check for any dirt, grains of sand, hair, dust, salt, thread scraps in the rubber ring and wipe off with a soft cloth or tissue paper. Apply a coat of grease onto the rubber ring • • • • Apply a small drop of grease onto the rubber ring and evenly coat the entire surface of the rubber ring with the end of your finger. Do not use paper or cloth as fibre may stick to the rubber ring.
7 Using SMC Card • Using the SMC card (Smart Media Card) Your camera comes with approximately 8MB of built-in flash memory for storing pictures, audio & video clips. You can expand the memory using a commercially available SMC card. The camera senses whether a memory card is inserted, and automatically saves pictures, audio & video clips accordingly. NOTE that you cannot save pictures to the built-in flash memory while a memory card is installed in the camera.
8 Installing your Software onto a Computer • Installing the software PC For Windows® Users: IMPORTANT! (For Windows® 98SE) • Please backup all the necessary data before any driver/software installation. • The CD-ROM is tested and recommended to use under English Windows OS. 1. Before you begin, close all other software applications open on your computer. 2. Insert the CD supplied into the computer CD-ROM Drive. 3. The CD User Interface Screen will automatically launch. 4.
Adobe® Acrobat® Reader .PDF File Reading Software Adobe® Acrobat® Reader lets you view and print Adobe Portable Document format (PDF) file on all major computer platforms, as well as fill in and submit Adobe PDF forms online. Microsoft® Netmeeting™ Web Cam software NetMeeting™ provides the most complete conferencing solution for the Internet and corporate intranet.
• Transferring and Viewing the Pictures, Audio and Video clips For Windows® Users: PC You can transfer pictures, audio and video clips through any ArcSoft Software provided. We use PhotoStudio 4.0 software as an example. Transfer pictures: You can transfer the pictures in PhotoStudio 4.0 software. 1. Start PhotoStudio® 4.0. Go to start->Programs-> ArcSoft Software Suite-> PhotoStudio® 4.0 2. Go to “File” -> “Select Source” ->select “camera 1.0 (32-32)” as source. 3. Click “File” -> “Acquire” 4.
10 Using Your Camera as a Web Cam • Setting up NetMeeting™ PC 1. Connect your AQ 1300 to the PC with the USB cable. 2. Put your AQ 1300 on top of your PC monitor or another flat surface. 3. Connect your microphone (not included) and speaker (not included) to your audio card’s Mic in & Speaker out jack respectively.

See your registration card for helpline contact details. PC For Windows® Users: Symptom Problem Solution I receive an error message when I am installing the Digital Cam Driver. Digital Cam Driver does not load. Shut down all other applications and attempt to re-install the driver, or download the updated driver from www.
MAC For Macintosh® Users: Symptom Problem Solution I receive an error message when I am installing the Digital Cam Driver. Digital Cam Driver does not load. All the images I have taken do not appear on the AQ 1300. You have lost power to your AQ 1300 by either: Shut down all other applications and attempt to re-install the driver, or download the updated driver from www.cool-icam.com and install the updated driver. Insufficient battery power Upload all images to your Mac as soon as possible.
