Under some shooting conditions, facial skin 103
Skin tones are not softened.
No sound when shutter is
released.
AF-assist illuminator does not

Pictures are too dark
(underexposed).
Pictures are too bright
(overexposed).
Unexpected results when flash

reduction).

Use Skin softening in the playback menu for
pictures containing more than three faces.
Off isselected for Sound settings>Shutter
sound in setup menu. No sound isheard with
some shooting modes and settings, even
when On isselected.
The speaker is blocked. Do not cover the
speaker.
Off is selected for AF assist in the setup menu.
AF-assist illuminator may not light depending
on the position of the focus area or the current
scene mode, even when Auto is selected.
Lens is dirty. Clean lens.
White balance does not match light source.
Shutter speed is too slow or ISO sensitivity is
high as the subject isdark. Noise can be reduced
by:
Using flash.
Specifying a lower ISOsensitivity setting.
Flash is off.
Flash window is blocked.
Subject is beyond flash range.
Adjust exposure compensation.
Increase ISO sensitivity.
Subject is backlit. Select Backlight scene
mode or use fill flash.
Adjust exposure compensation.
When taking pictures with _) (auto with red-
eye reduction) or fill flash with slow sync and
red eye reduction in Night portrait scene
mode, In-Camera Red Eye Fix may be applied to
areas not affected by red eye. Use any scene
mode other than Night portrait, and change
the flash to any setting other than _ (auto
with red-eye reduction) and try shooting again.
