Battery Powered
Soldering Tool
Thanks you for purchasing the BP860 battery powered
cordless soldering tool from Weller. This is the latest
in a line of both cordless and corded soldering and hot
air tools from Weller - the world’s leading maker of
soldering products. With proper care, your BP860 tool
will give you years of reliable service.
BP860 is a lightweight, fast heat-up soldering iron
ideal for field service work where electricity is not rea-
dily available. The heating element coil is contained in
the tip for super-fast heat-up. Use this tool for light
duty soldering jobs where portability is necessary.
Safety Notes
1.Tip is hot! Do not touch the tip or you may get
severely burned.
2.Do not immerse in water!
3.Allow the tip to cool after use before storing away.
4.Place the protective cover over the tip when storing
so that the cover secures the safety slide switch in
the “OFF” position.
Operating Instructions
1.To install batteries, remove the battery cover by
pinching the clips on the sides of the battery cover
and lifting off.
2.Place (4) 1.5 V size AA alkaline batteries (included)
into the iron as illustrated and replace the cover.
3.Remove the protective cover from the tip.
4. Make sure the tip is securely installed.

(450°C) setting or “II” for higher power (510°C)
6.Hold the soldering iron like a pen. Press and hold
the round buttonon top of the On/Off slide switch
continuously. The iron heats up to solder melting
point in about 15 seconds.
7.To extend battery life, only press the button when
soldering.
8.Place the hot soldering iron standing upright so the
tip does not come in contact with surrounding
objects.
9.After soldering, slide the switch to the “OFF” positi-
on and replace the protective cover.
Maintenance
1.If it takes more than 30 seconds to reach working
temperature, install fresh batteries.
2.Use alkaline batteries for best results. Do not mix
old and new batteries.
3.Do not change the soldering tip when hot. Use the
tip exchanger provided to remove the tip as shown.
4.The soldering tip is iron plated for long life. Do not
file the tip as filing will destory the plating.
5.Remove the batteries from the tool when not using
for prolonged periods to prevent batteries from lea-
king into the tools.
