5.2 Preferences
Field Description
Use When Available Appears only on iPad which has mobile data connectivity.
ON: When a Wi-Fi connection is not available, Bria will attempt to connect to SIP/
XMPP services using the mobile data network. Data charges with your mobile carrier
will apply. You will be able to receive messages and voice mail notifications when
Bria is in the mobile data network. You will also have a choice to allow/disallow VoIP
calls using a separate setting "Allow VoIP Calls".
OFF: When a Wi-Fi connection is not available, SIP and XMPP services will be
unregistered; you will get no messages or notifications. "Allow VoIP Calls" is OFF;
you will not be able to place or receive calls either.
Allow VoIP Calls Appears only on iPad which has mobile data connectivity. "Use When Available" must
be ON to use this setting.
ON: When a Wi-Fi connection is not available, Bria will attempt to place calls using
the mobile data channel. Data charges with your mobile carrier will apply. If you turn
this setting on, we recommend you purchase the G.729 codec (page 61) because it
provides better audio quality on mobile data calls (3G/4G).
OFF: When a Wi-Fi connection is not available, you will not be able to place or
receive calls.
