IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Here are some basic safety precautions that you should carefully follow as you
use your new Courant Slow Cooker. Read all instructions carefully! Courant
is not responsible for damage or injuries caused by improper use of the appli-
ance.
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS, AS THEY MAY NOT ALL BE OBVIOUS
Remove any packaging material before using this appliance.
Any use of this product or its accessories which is not recommended by
manufacturer may cause injury to persons or damage to the appliance.
Never touch the outer enclosure of the slow cooker during its operation or
before it cools. Use the handles or knobs only. Use oven gloves or a cloth
when removing the lid, pot or handling any contents.
Do not place near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
Extreme caution must be used when moving the ceramic pot if it contains
hot food or hot liquids.
When warm or hot, always place the ceramic pot on a heatproof mat or
surface if it is not inside the cooker.
If serving directly from the ceramic pot, use a heatproof mat or surface and
make sure others know that the pot is too hot to touch.
NEVER place any food or liquids directly into the base unit. Always cook in
the ceramic pot. Avoid spilling food or liquid into the base unit.
NEVER allow a child to use this appliance. Keep the appliance out of chil-
drens' reach at all times.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with this
appliance.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities that may lead to improper
use or injury from operating the appliance.
DO NOT switch on the slow cooker if the ceramic pot is empty.
Always use the Slow Cooker on a dry, flat, level surface. Do not switch on
the slow cooker if it is not upright and level. Do not hang the power cord
over the edge of a table or counter.
Ensure that the power cord does not touch any hot surfaces of the appli-
ance.
The appliance must always be grounded.
Remove the plug from the wall outlet before cleaning and when not in use.
Allow the appliance to cool down completely before removing or attaching
components, or before cleaning.
Discontinue any operation of the appliance if the cord or plug are dam-
aged.
