Connect the AC adapter to an outlet and the Line-in terminal of iAUDIO. 2. Upon connection, iAUDIO will be automatically powered on and battery charging begins 3. When charging is completed, the following figure appears on LCD. - Never connect the AC adapter to the iAUDIO earphone jack or other audio devices.

Copy the music files and other files to use with iAUDIO F1 in the iAUDIO drive. 3. When file copying is completed, click the @@ icon on the system tray. 4. When the following message pops up, click on it. 5. When the safe hardware removal message appears as shown below, disconnect the USB cable.

The initial screen and preset logo appear, and then the display changes to a standby screen. (You can set iAUDIO to automatically play music upon power on.) 4. (If the current menu is the highest menu, the display will return to a standby screen.

Selecting Navigator Item To select and open a folder, press the lever or the Popup button to display the Popup window and then select Expand. Or, you can bypass the Popup and enter a folder directly by pushing the lever in the ▶▶ direction.

Power On/Play • When you press the PLAY button, iAUDIO powers on with the iAUDIO logo. • Upon power on, iAUDIO begins playing music. • When Resume is set, the last played track and played position are recalled and playback begins from that point. • To listen to music by moving to MP3 Player mode from another mode after iAUDIO powers on, press the MODE button and select MP3 Player from the menu.

FM Radio Mode (Listening to FM Radio) When you press the FF / REW buttons briefly while FM radio is playing, the frequency moves by 0.1 MHz. When you press the FF / REW buttons for one or two seconds and release it, the nearest frequency with good reception is automatically searched for.

Line-in Recorder Mode (Recording through Stereo Cable) In Line-in Recorder mode, you can record the sound from another audio device to iAUDIO via the supplied stereo cable. 1. Connect the headphone jack of CD player and the Line-in jack of iAUDIO using a stereo cable. 2. Power on iAUDIO and move to Line-in Recorder mode. 3. When you press the REC button, iAUDIO waits until an audio signal is detected. iAUDIO follows the settings of Auto Sync.

The 5-band EQ appears. Move to a setting from among Normal, Rock, Jazz, Classic, Pop, Vocal and User by using the + and - buttons. Each of these EQ presets can be customized. To do this, select the desired EQ and press the FF button to make it adjustable. Then you can change values with the + and - buttons.

Installing Device Driver When using Windows 98 or 98 SE operating systems, you need to install the device driver when connecting iAUDIO to a PC for the first time. ■ Procedure for Driver Installation 1. Connect iAUDIO to a PC via the USB cable. (Refer to Section 7. “Connecting to a PC and Charging the Battery” in “Before Getting Started”.) 2. The Add New Hardware Wizard appears as shown below. Through firmware upgrades, product features can be enhanced and bugs corrected. B. Limitation of Liability and Legal Notice Regarding Firmware • The performance and menus of iAUDIO are subject to change without prior notice through regular or beta versions of firmware upgrades supplied by the manufacturer.

Decompress the downloaded file, and run setup. exe or indicated setup file from among the extracted files. If you have installed a firmware upgrade program before, the above window appears when you run the setup file. To install the firmware upgrade program, click OK to delete the previous version and run the setup file again.

Therefore, be sure to backup MP3 files and important recorded files stored in iAUDIO F1 to your PC. Furthermore, be careful not to remove the USB cable during the firmware upgrade, as this may cause a failure of the device or various malfunctions.

Support for Programs on the CD The iAUDIO installation CD contains JetAudio, a world-renowned multimedia integrated player program and JetShell, the iAUDIO manager program. (In addition, driver files for Windows 98 and 98 SE are also included.) Refer to the User Guides for the programs in the corresponding folder. T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g Symptom iAUDIO does not power on. There is no sound. FM Radio does not work. Action 49 Description Check whether the battery is in with the correct orientation. When the polarity of the battery is reversed, iAUDIO does not work. Replace the battery with a new one. When the battery power is empty, iAUDIO does not work. Remove the battery and then reinstall it.
T r o u b l e s h o o t i n g Symptom Action The memory is full, but the device malfunctions or does not play back files. Initialize the product, and resend the files with 1 to 2 MB of free space. The settings.dat file, a key system file, is stored in the root folder of flash memory. When this file is not stored properly, or deleted/damaged during file transfer, malfunctions may occur. After saving hundreds of files in the root folder, iAUDIO does not work or malfunctions.

It may not start automatically depending on the settings of Windows. In this case, run x:\setup.exe or x:\JetShell\setup.exe. (where x is the letter of your CD-ROM drive) 2. When the installation finishes, Start -> Program -> COWON -> iAUDIO F1 program group is created. 3.

It was given for your reference only. 1. Connect the USB ports of iAUDIO to your PC using the provided USB cable. As soon as the cable is connected, "Add New Hardware Wizard" window is displayed. Click Next. 2.

You can also select multiple files and then press the Play button. On the black screen in the middle, various information of current file is displayed, and two types of spectrum screens appear.

When iAUDIO is working normally, the red lamp is turned on with the message "iAUDIO is working" as shown in the figure. The files in iAUDIO displayed in the middle window. The "Memory used" bar shown at the bottom right indicates the used memory size of the total flash memory of iAUDIO.

JetShell does not support downloading secure WMA files. You can use Windows Explorer or other file management programs to download music files to iAUDIO. 1. Downloading music files to iAUDIO is very simple.

This is useful when you wish to download files in different folders. 5. Before getting started, you must choose the quality of the MP3 files to create. Click [Setup] –[MP3 Encoder Option] to set the desired bitrate of the MP3 files.

O t h e r F e a t u r e s 65 1. Ripping Enhanced CD For some enhanced CDs, you cannot directly select the tracks on the CD. In this case, you can right click your mouse on button and select a track to convert to file as shown in the picture below. However, for some Audio CDs for which copy protection technology is applied, this ripping method may not work. What is an enhanced CD? This is an audio CD that contains video or data for a PC. The tracks appear when you right click your mouse. 2.
