ControllingFlare‐ups
Flare‐upsareapartofcookingmeatsonagassideburner.Thisaddstotheunique
flavorofcookingonagassideburner.Excessiveflare‐upsresultingfromthebuild‐upofgreaseinthebottomof
thesideburner can over‐cook the food andcause a dangeroussituation for you and your side burner. If this
shouldoccur,DONOTpourwaterontotheflames,whichcancausethegreasetosplatterandcouldresultin
seriousburnsorbodilyharm.Ifgreasefireoccurs,closethehoodandturnoffthemainburnersuntilthegrease
burnsout.Usecautionwhenopeningthehoodassuddenflare‐upsmayoccur.
ToMinimizeFlare‐ups:
- Trimexcessfatfrommeatspriortocooking.
- Cookmeatswithhighfatcontents(chickenorpork)onLowsettingsorindirectly.
- Ensurethatyoursideburnerisonlevelgroundandthegreaseisallowedtoevacuatethesideburner
throughthedrainhole.
DRIPTRAY
Thedriptraylocatedbelowthesideburnershouldbecleanedperiodicallytopreventbuildupofdebris.
NOTE:Allowthedriptraytocoolbeforeattemptingtoclean.
IMPORTANT: Donotleavethe sideburneroutsideduringinclementweather unlessitiscovered(coversold
separately).Rainwatercancollectinsidethesideburner,thesideburnercartorthedriptrayifleftuncovered.If
thedriptrayisnotcleanedafteruseandthesideburnerisleftuncovered,thedriptraywillfillwithwatercausing
greaseandwatertospillintothesideburnercart.Werecommendcleaningandstoringthedriptrayafterevery
use.
COOKINGGRATES
Thecookinggratescanbecleanedimmediatelyaftercookingiscompletedandafterturningoffthesideburner.
But, exercise extreme caution because the grates will be very hot if you clean them immediately after cooking.
Wearabarbecuemittandscrubthecookinggrateswithadampcloth.Ifthesideburnerisallowedtocooldown,
cleaningthegrateswillbeeasierifremovedfromthesideburnerandcleanedwithamilddetergent.
Care & Maintenance
All cleaning and maintenance should be done only when grill is cool & with the fuel supply turned
off at the cylinder or source.
