Check your local building codes for the proper method of installation. In the absence of local codes, this unit
shouldbeinstalledinaccordancewiththeNationalFuelGasCodeNo.Z223.11998USAorCAN/CGAB149.1/.2
Natural Gas/Propane Code (Canada) latest edition or the National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA No. 70 or the
CanadianElectricalCodeCSAC22.1,1990orlatestversion.
- Beforeinstalling the side burner inenclosures, copy all productinformation such asmodel number,serial
numberandtypeofsideburner(e.g.naturalgasorLP)andstoreinformationinasafeplace.
- Ifthesideburnerisinstalled
byaprofessionalinstallerortechnician, besurethatheshowsyouwhereyour
gassupplyshutoffislocated.Allgaslinesmusthavea shutoff thatisreadilyand easily accessible.Ifyou
smellgas,checkforgasleaksimmediately.Checkonlywithasoapandwatersolution.Nevercheckforgas
leakswithanopenflame.
Notice: Westronglyrecommend professionalinstallationandhookupofthegasside burner.Theseinstructions
will provide you with the measurements necessary for you or your builder to construct a masonry structure to
houseyouroutdoorgassideburner.
IMPORTANT:Gasfittings,regulator,andinstal ler suppliedshutoffvalvesmustbeeasilyaccessible.
LOCATIONOFYOURSIDEBURNER:
Locate the side burner only in a well ventilated area. Never locate the side burner in a building, garage,
breezeway, shed or other such enclosed areas without an approved ventilation system. During heavy use, the
sideburnerwillproducealotofsmoke.Ensurethereisadequateareaforittodissipate.
WindandyourSideburner:
Wind is a huge factor on a gas side burner’s performance. If the grill is located in a windy location (hillside,
oceanside, patio with constant breeze, etc) then a wind break will be required for proper combustion and
cookingtooccur.
o If your only option is to have the side burner in a windy location, build a back splash on your
islandatleast6”talltoassistinwinddiversion.
o If you have a cart model and are facing a wind problem, point the back with the direction of the
wind,sothatthegasstillflowsoutofthevalvesandintotheburners.
Clearance
- TO NONCOMBUSTIBLE CONSTRUCTION:Aminimumof8.5" (217mm) clearancefromthebackof the side
burner is recommended. It is desirable to allow at least 2"(50.8mm) side clearance to noncombustible
constructionabovethecookingsurfaceforcounterspace.Thesideburnercanbeplaceddirectlyadjacent
tononcombustibleconstructionbelowthecookingsurface.Thesideburnerexhaustscombustionproducts
andcookinggreasestotheback.Neverlocatethesideburnerwherethisexhaustwillbedifficulttoclean.
- CLEARANCE TO COMBUSTIBLE CONSTRUCTION: A Minimum of 24" (609.6mm) from the sides and a
minimumof24"(609.6mm)fromthebackmustbemaintainedfromthesideburneraboveandbelowthe
cookingsurfacetoadjacentverticalcombustibleconstruction.
