Vl. Stopping Your Engine and
Short-Term Storage
Stop engine accordingtoequipment manufacturer's
instructions.
_ _ To avoid unsupervised operation of
_ an engine, especially by children,
NEVER leave itunattendedwhen it isrunning.Always turn
offthe engine after use and remove ignitionkey, if
provided.
NEVER storethe engine withfuel in
the fuel tank inside a buildingwith
potentialsourcesof ignitionsuchas hot water and space
heaters, clothesdryers, electric motors, etc.
A. Before Stopping
1. Runenginefora few minutestohelpdryoffany moisture
on engine
2. To help avoid possiblefreeze-up of starter proceed as
follows:
I. Recoil Starters
With engine running,pull starter ropewith a rapid
continuousfullarm stroke 3 or4 times See Figure 14
NOTE
The unusual sound made by pulling staffer rope will not
harm engine or staffer.
II. Electric Starters
NO TES
When connecting power cord, always connectpower cord
to switch box on engine first; then into outlet. See Figure 15.
For European 220V A. C. Applications use an appropdate
grounded extension lead available locally
1. Connect power cordto switchbox on engine. See
Figure 15.
2. Plugend of powercord intooutlet.
3. With engine running,pushstarter buttonand spin
starterfor several seconds.
NOTES
The unusual sound made by the spinning staffer will not
harm engine or startet:
When disconnecting power cord, always disconnect power
cord from outlet first; then disconnect switch box on engine.

4. Disconnect power cordfrom outlet. See Figure 15.
5. Disconnectswitch box on engine. See Figure 15.
