Nowthatyou havesetupyour chippershredderfor operation,get
aquaintedwith itscontrolsandfeatures.Theseare describedbelow
andillustratedon thispage.Thisknowledgewillallowyou to useyour
newequipmentto its fullestpotential.
CHIPPER CHUTE
Allowstwigsandsmallbranchesup to 3" indiameterto befed intothe
impellerfor chipping.SeeFigure9.
Theoperationof anychippershreddercan resultinforeignobjects
beingthrownintothe eyes,whichcan damageyoureyesseverely.
Alwayswearthe safetyglassesprovidedwiththisunitor eye shields
beforechippingor shreddingandwhileperformingany adjustments
or repairs.
TAMPER
HOPPER ASSEMBLY
Allowleavesandsmallbranchesupto 1/2diameterto befed intothe
impellerfor chippingandshredding.Materialcan berakedintohopper
assemblyby loweringthe hopperassembly.SeeFigure9.
RELEASE ROD
The releaserodis locatedon the impellerbracketassemblyandit
is usedto releaseorlockthe hopperwhen raisingor lowering.See
Figure9.
CHUTE DEFLECTOR
Chippedandshreddeddebrisis dischargedout thechutedeflector.
Theunit maybeoperatedwithorwithoutthe collectionbagattachedto
the chutedeflector.SeeFigure9.
Thisplugis insertedinto thechipperchuteto pushtwigsandsmall
branchestowardsthe impellerbladeswithoutendangeringyour hands.
TH ROTTLE CONTROL
Thislevercontrolsthe enginespeedandstopfunction.Throughthree
separatepositionsonthe leverfromleftto right,theoperationis as
follows:
Start/Run Slow/Idle Engine Off
CHOKE CONTROL
The chokecontrolis usedto chokethe carburetorand assistinstarting
the engine.

CraftsmanYardVacuumsconformto the safetystandardof the AmericanNationalStandardsInstitute(ANSI).
