Squeezethe triggeron thehandle paneljoystickand rotatethe chuteby hand to face forward.Theholes in the chutecontrol input will be facing up.See Figure5. Chute Controlf NOTE:The chutewill not rotatewithoutsqueezingthe triggeron the joystick. 6.
Makesureall cablesare routedto the left of the chutecontrol rod. Line up the hole in the rodwith the arrowon the inputshaftand insert the rod intothe inputshaftbelowjoystickon handlepanel. See Figure7. NOTE:The chutecontrol rodwill fit snugglyintothe inputshaft. Supportthe rearof the dashpanel withone handwhile insertingthe rod with yourother handto ensurethe rod is insertedallthe way into the inputshaft. 8.

Chute Clean=Out Tool ................ A chute clean-out tool is fastenedto the top of the augerhousing with a mountingclip. See Figure12.The tool is designedto cleara chuteassemblyof ice and snow.This item is fastenedwith a cabletie at the factory.Cut thecable tie beforeoperatingthe snowthrower. Auger Control Priorto operatingyoursnowthrower,carefullyread and followall instructionsbelow.Performall adjustmentsto verifyyoursnow throweris operatingsafelyand properly. THROTTLE CONTROL DRIVE CONTROL/AUGER f CONTROL LOCK DRIVE CONTROL Thethrottlecontrolis locatedon the rearof the engine.It regulatesthe speedof theengine and will shutoff the enginewhenmovedintothe STOPposition. Depressingthe primerforcesfuel directlyinto the engine'scarburetorto aid in cold-weather starting. RECOIL STARTER @ _p The drivecontrolis locatedon the righthandle.Squeezethe control grip againstthe handleto engagethe wheeldrive. Releaseto stop.
CLEAN-OUT TOOL • Neveruse yourhandsto cleara cloggedchute assembly.Shut off engineand remainbehindhandlesuntilall movingpartshave stoppedbeforeusingthe clean-outtoolto clear thechute assembly. • • Thechute clean-outtool is convenientlyfastenedto the rear of the augerhousingwith a mountingclip. Shouldsnowand ice become lodgedin thechute assemblyduringoperation,proceedas followsto safelycleanthechute assemblyand chute opening: 1. MAINTENANCE Beforeperforminganytypeof maintenance/service, disengageall controlsand stoptheengine.Waituntilall movingpartshavecometo a completestop.Disconnectsparkplugwireandgrounditagainstthe enginetopreventunintendedstarting.Alwayswearsafetyglassesduring operationor whileperforminganyadjustments or repairs. SCHEDULE Followthe maintenanceschedulegivenbelow.This chart describes serviceguidelinesonly. Usethe ServiceLog columnto keeptrackof completedmaintenancetasks.
Changing Engine Oil NOTE:Changethe engineoil after the first 5 hoursof operationand oncea seasonor every 50 hoursthereafter. 1. Drainfuelfrom tank by runningengineuntilthe fuel tank is empty. Be surefuel fill cap is secure. 2. 3. 4. Placesuitableoil collectioncontainerunderoil drain plug. Removeoil drain plug.See Figure18. Tip unitto drain oil intothe container.Usedoil mustbe disposed of at a propercollectioncenter. Oil Drain Plug Usedoil is a hazardouswasteproduct.Disposeof usedoil properly.
3. 4. 5. f Measurethe plug gap with a feelergauge.Correctas necessary by bendingsideelectrode.See Figure20. Thegap shouldbe set to .02-.03inches (0.60-0.80ram). Checkthat thespark plug washeris in good conditionand thread the sparkplug in by handto preventcross-threading. Afterthe sparkplug is seated,tightenwith a spark plugwrenchto compressthe washer. NOTE:Wheninstallinga newsparkplug,tighten 1/2-turnafter the spark plugseatsto compressthe washer.
SHAVE PLATE AND SKiD SHOES Theshaveplateand skid shoeson the bottomof the snowthrowerare subjectto wear.They shouldbe checkedperiodicallyand replaced whennecessary. NOTE:Theskid shoes on this machinehavetwo wearedges.When one sidewearsout, theycan be rotated1800to usethe otheredge. Toremoveskid shoes: 1. Removethefour carriagebolts and hexflangenuts which secure them tothe snowthrower. 2. Reassemblenew skid shoeswith thefour carriagebolts (two on eachside)and hexflangenuts.Referto Figure23.
Chute Control Rod // Toachievemorechute control rodengagementin the inputshaft under the handlepanel,thechute controlrod will haveto be adjusted.Refer to Figure26. Toadjustthis rod,proceedas follows: 1. Removethe cotter pin fromthe hole closestto the chutecontrol headon the chutecontrolinput. 2. 3. Pull out thechute controlrod until thehole in it linesup with the otherhole in thechute controlinput. Reinsertthe cotterpin throughthis hole andthe chute control rod.
4. Carefully pivot thesnow thrower upandforward sothatitrests on theauger housing. 5. Remove theframe cover fromtheunderside ofthesnow thrower byremoving theself-tapping screws which secure it.SeeFigure 29. 6. Remove thebeltasfollows. Refer toFigure 30. A. Loosen andremove theshoulder screw which actsasabelt keeper. B. Unhook theauger brake bracket spring fromtheframe. 7. Remove thebeltfromaround theauger pulley, andslipthebelt between thesupport bracket andtheauger pulley. SeeFigure 31. 8.
Drive Belt To removeand replaceyoursnow thrower'sdrivebelt, proceedas follows: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Topreventspillage,removeall fuel fromtank by runningengine until it stops. Removethe plasticbelt coveron the front of the engineby removing the two self-tappingscrews.See Figure27 on previouspage. Removethe beltfrom enginepulleyas follows.Referto Figure32. A. Rollthe auger beltoff theengine pulley. B. Use a wrenchto pivotthe idler pulleytowardthe right. C. Lift the drivebelt off engine pulley.

Carefullyremovethe hexnut and washerwhich securesthehex shaftto the snowthrowerframeand lightlytap the shaft'send to dislodgethe ball bearingfrom the rightsideof the frame.See Figure35. _;! .]_j NOTE:Be carefulnot to damagethe threadson the shaft. 7. Carefullypositionthe hexshaftdownwardand to the left before carefullyslidingthe frictionwheelassemblyoff the shaft. See Figure36. NOTE: If you'rereplacingthe frictionwheelassemblyas a whole, discardthe wornpartand slidethe newpart ontothe hexshaft. 8. 9.
Ifthesnow thrower willnotbeused for30days orlonger, orifitistheendofthesnow season when thelastpossibility ofsnow isgone, the equipment needs tobestored properly. Follow storage instructions below toensure topperformance fromthesnow thrower formany more years. PREPARING PREPARING ENGINE Whenstoringthe snowthrowerin an unventilatedor metal storage shed,careshouldbe taken to rustprooftheequipment.Using a light oil or silicone,coat theequipment,especiallyanychains, springs,bearingsand cables.
