Your log splitterwas builtto be operated accordingto the rulesfor safe operation in this manual. As with
any b/pe of power equipment, carelessness or error on the part of the operator can result in serious
injury. If youviolate anyof these rules, youmay causeseriousinjuryto yourself orothers.
TRAINING
1. Beforeoperatingthissplitter,readandunderstandthismanual
completely.Becomefamiliarwithitfor yourownsafety.Totail
to do so may causeseriousinjury.Do notallowanyoneto
operateyoursplitterwhohasnot readthismanual Keepthis

2. Neveruseyoursplitterfor anyotherpurposethansplitting

ment,nota toy.Therefore,exerciseextremecautionat all

3. Neverallowchildrento operateyourlogsplitter.Donotallow
adultsto operateit withoutproperinstruction.Onlypersons
wellacquaintedwiththeserulesof safeoperationshouldbe
allowedtouseyourlogsplitter.
4. Onlytheoperatoristo be nearyourtogsplitterduringuse,

feetawayfrom yourworkzone. Flyingwoodcanbehaz-
ardous.If a helperisassistinginloadinglogs,neveractivate

thanat anyothertime.
5. Nooneshouldoperatethisunitwhileintoxicatedorwhiletak-

orotherwisenotalertto useyoursplitter.

5. Ifyouweargloves,besuretheyaretightfitting withoutloose
cuffsordrawstrings.
6. Useyourlogsplitterindaylight,or undergoodartificiallight.
7. Neveroperateyoursplitteron slippery,wet,muddyoricysur-
faces.Safefootingisessentia!in preventingaccidents.Never
operateyoursplitterwhileattachedtoatowingvehicle.

8. Only operateyour splitter on level ground and not on the side
of a hill. it couldtip, or roiling logs or poorfooting couldcause
an accident. Operating the splitter on level ground also pre-
vents the spillage of gasoline fromthe fuel tank.
9. Never attemptto move the log splitter over hillyor uneventer-
rain without a tow vehicle or adequate help.
10. Always block the wheels to prevent movement of log splitter
while in operation.
11. Check the fuel before starting the engine. Gasoline is an
extremely flammable fuel. Do not fill the gasoline tank indoors,
when the engine is running, or while the engine is still hot.
Replacegasolinecap securelyand wipeoff any spilled gasoline
before starting the engineasit may causea tire or explosion.
12. Both ends of each log must be cut as square as possibleto
help preventthe log from riding out of the splitter during oper-
ation.
