TO START ENGINE
1. Standingbehindthemower,squeezethe bladecontrolhandle
againstupperhandle.SeeFigure11.
2. Holdingthesetwohandlestogetherfirmly,grasprecoilstarter
handleandpull ropeslowlyuntil resistanceis felt, then pullwitha
rapid,continuous,full arm stroke.SeeFigure11.Keepinga firm
griponthe starterhandle,letthe roperewindslowly.Repeatuntil
enginecranks.Letthe roperewindeachtimeslowly.
Rapidretractionof startercord (kickback)will pullhandandarm
towardenginefasterthan youcan let go. Brokenbones,fractures,
bruisesorsprainscould result.
NOTE:Ifenginefloods,waita fewminutesto restart.
TO STOP ENGINE
1. Releasebladecontroltostoptheengineandblade.
Waitfor the bladeto stopcompletelybeforeperforminganyworkon
the moweror to removethe grasscatcher.

USING YOUR LAWN MOWER
Besure lawnis clearof stones,sticks,wire,orotherobjectswhich
coulddamagelawnmoweror engine.Suchobjectscouldbeaccidently
thrownby themowerin anydirectionandcauseseriouspersonalinjury
to the operatorandothers.
Theoperationof any lawnmowercan resultinforeignobjectsbeing
thrownintothe eyes,whichcan damageyoureyesseverely.Always
wearsafetyglasseswhileoperatingthe mower,or whileperforming
anyadjustmentsor repairson it.
1. Oncetheengineis running,squeezethedrivecontrolagainstthe
upperhandleto propelmower.Releaseit to disengagethe drive.
USING AS MULCHER
For mulchinggrass,removethe grasscatcherorthe side discharge
chutefromthe mower,and reattachthe mulchingbaffle.Foreffective
mulching,donot cutwetgrass.If thegrasshas beenallowedto grow
in excessof four inches,mulchingis not recommended.Usethe grass
catcherto bagclippingsinstead.
USING GRASS CATCHER
Youcanuse the grasscatcherto collectclippingswhileyou are
operatingthe mower.
1. Attachgrasscatcherfollowinginstructionsinthe Assembly
section.Grassclippingswill automaticallycollect inthe bagas
you runthe mower.
2. Operatethe mowertill the grassbagis full.
3. Stopenginecompletelyby releasingthe bladecontrol.Makesure
thatthe unit hascometo a completestop.
4. Whileholdingthe grassbagby boththe rearhandleandthe lower
handle,liftthe grassbagstraightup offthe adapter.Thechute
doorwill movethe ropeoutof the wayof the bag.
5. Continuingto holdthe lowerhandle,raisethe rearof the grass
bagand releasethe lowerhandleovera properreceptacle.The
grassbagwillopenandthe grassclippingswill disperse.When
replacingthe grassbag,be surethetop of the bagrestsonthe
wire supportbetweenthe handles.
Ifyou strikea foreignobject,stopthe engine.Removewirefromthe
sparkplug,thoroughlyinspectmowerfor anydamage,and repair
damagebeforerestartingandoperating.Extensivevibrationof mower
duringoperationis an indicationof damage.The unit shouldbe
promptlyinspectedandrepaired.
