Holdingthese two handlestogetherfirmly,grasprecoilstarter handleand pull ropeslowlyuntil resistanceis felt, then pull with a rapid,continuous,full arm stroke.See Figure14.Keepinga firm grip on the starterhandle,letthe roperewindslowly.Repeatuntil enginecranks.Letthe rope rewindeachtime slowly. Rapidretractionof startercord (kickback)will pull handand arm towardengine fasterthan youcan let go.

Check Engine Oil Checkoil levelbeforeeachoperation.Be sureoil levelis maintained. 1. 2. Checkthe oil with the enginestoppedand level. Removethe oil fill dipstickand wipeit clean. 3. 4. Insertand tightendipstick.Removeitto checkthe oil level. If the oil levelisnear or belowthe lowerlimit mark on the dipstick, removethe oil fillercap/dipstick,and fill with the recommendedoil to the upperlimit mark.Do not overfill. Reinstallthe oil fill dipstick. 5.
DECK WASH Yourmower'sdeck is equippedwith a waterport on its surfaceas part of its deckwash system. Usethe deck washto rinsegrass clippingsfromthe deck'sunderside and preventthe buildupof corrosivechemicals.Completethe following stepsAFTEREACHMOWING: 1.
