TO START ENGINE
1. Standingbehindthe mower,squeezethe bladecontrolhandle
againstupperhandle.SeeFigure14.
2. Holdingthesetwohandlestogetherfirmly,grasprecoilstarter
handleandpull ropeslowlyuntil resistanceis felt,then pullwitha
rapid,continuous,full arm stroke.SeeFigure14.Keepingafirm
griponthe startercord handle,let the roperewindslowly.Repeat
untilenginecranks.Letthe roperewindeachtimeslowly.
Rapidretractionof startercord (kickback)will pullhandandarm
towardenginefasterthan youcan let go. Brokenbones,fractures,
bruisesorsprainscould result.
NOTE:Ifenginefloods,waita fewminutesto restart.
TO STOP ENGINE
1. Releasebladecontrolto stopthe engineandblade.
Waitfor the bladeto stopcompletelybeforeperforminganyworkon
the moweror to removethe grasscatcher.

USING YOUR LAWN MOWER
Besure lawnis clearof stones,sticks,wire,orotherobjectswhich
coulddamagelawnmoweror engine.Suchobjectscouldbeaccidently
thrownby themowerin anydirectionandcauseseriouspersonalinjury
to the operatorandothers.
Theoperationof any lawnmowercan resultinforeignobjectsbeing
thrownintothe eyes,whichcan damageyoureyesseverely.Always
wearsafetyglasseswhileoperatingthe mower,or whileperforming
anyadjustmentsor repairson it.
USING AS MULCHER
For mulchinggrass,removethe grasscatcherandsidedischarge
chutefromthe mower.Foreffectivemulching,donot cutwetgrass. If
the grasshas beenallowedto grow inexcessof four inches,mulching
is not recommended.Usethe grasscatcherto bagclippingsinstead.
USING GRASS CATCHER
Youcanuse the grasscatcherto collectclippingswhileyou are
operatingthe mower.
1. Attachgrasscatcherfollowinginstructionsinthe "Assembly"
section.Grassclippingswill automaticallycollect inbagas you
runmower.Operatemoweruntil grassbagis full.
2. Stopenginecompletelyby releasingthe bladecontrol.Makesure
thatthe unit hascometo a completestop.
3. Liftdischargedoorandpullgrassbagupandawayfromthe
mowerto removethe bag.Disposeofthe grassclippingsand
reinstallthe bagwhencomplete.
Ifyou strikeaforeignobject,stoptheengine.Disconnectthespark
plugwire,thoroughlyinspectmowerfor anydamage,and repair
damagebeforerestartingandoperating.Extensivevibrationof mower
duringoperationis an indicationof damage.Theunit shouldbe
promptlyinspectedandrepaired.
