KNOW RANDOM YOUR SANDER See Figure 1. Before attempting to use your sander, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety requirements. ORBIT The random orbit motion provides overlapping sanding movements by combining orbital and turning motion. These overlapping sanding movements provide fast cutting action with excellent sanding results. ELECTRICAL _I, WARNING: If any parts are missing do not operate your sander until the missing parts are replaced.
APPLICATIONS The type of backing pad on your sander gives you the option of using either a sanding disc with pressure sensitive adhesive backing or an optional conversion pad with self-sticking velcro type backing material. (Use only for the purposes listed below) • Sanding on wood surfaces. • Removing rust from and sanding steel surfaces. SANDING Note: The optional conversion pad is available and can be purchased through Replacement Parts at your nearest Sears Retail Store.
DUSTLESS SANDING ,_ See Figures 3 and 4. The dust bag assembly provides a dust collection system for your sander. It can be installed by slipping it over the blower exhaust with a twisting motion. Sanding dust is drawn up through the holes of the sanding disc to collect in the dust bag during sanding operation. Note: For more efficient operation, empty dust bag when no more than half full. This will permit the air to flow through the bag better.
,_ WARNING: Before connecting your sander to power supply source, always check to be sure the switch is not in ON position. Failure to do so could result in accidental starting of your sander resulting in possible serious injury. PREPARING _k FOR OPERATION CAUTION: Be careful not to let your hand cover the air vents. SANDING See Figures 6 and 7. Clamp or otherwise secure the work to prevent it from moving under your sander.
_L GENERAL WARNING: When servicing use only identical Craftsman replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. Only the parts shown on parts list, page thirteen, are intended to be repaired or replaced by the customer. Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts.
