FEATURES KNOW YOUR DRILL-DRIVER KEYLESS CHUCK See Figure 1. The keyless chuck allows you to hand-tighten or release the drill bit in the chuck jaws. The safe use of this product requires an understanding of the information on the tool and in this operator’s manual as well as a knowledge of the project you are attempt ing, Before use of this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules.

OPERATIO SWITCH TRIGGER DIRECTION OF ROTATION SELECTOR (FORWARD/REVERSE/CENTER LOCK) See Figure 3. To turn the drill ON, depress the switch trigger. To turn it OFF, release the switch trigger, REVERSE VARIABLE SPEED The variable speed switch trigger delivers higher speed with increased trigger pressure and lower speed with de creased trigger pressure, NOTE: You might hear a whistling or ringing noise from the switch during use.
OPERATION TWO-SPEED GEAR TRAIN (HI-LO) See Figure 5. The drill has a two-speed gear train designed for drilling or driving at LO (1) or HI (2) speeds. A slide switch is located on top of the drill to select either LO (1) or HI (2) speed. When using drill in the LO (1) speed range, speed will decrease and unit will have more power and torque. When using drill in the HI (2) speed range, speed will increase and unit will have less power and torque.
OPERATIO BIT STORAGE See Figure 7. When not in use, bits provided with the driii can be piaced in the storage area iocated on the base of the driii. INSTALLING BITS See Figures 8 - 9. ■ Lock the switch trigger by piacing the direction of rotation seiector in the center position, ■ Open or cióse the chuck jaws to a point where the opening is siightiy iarger than the bit size you intend to use. Aiso, raise the front of the driii siightiy to keep the bit from faliing out of the chuck jaws.
OPERATIO DRILLING See Figure 10. A level Is located on the top of the motor housing to help keep the drill bit level during use. ■ Check the direction of rotation selector for the correct setting (forward or reverse). ■ Secure the material to be drilled In a vise or with clamps to keep It from turning as the drill bit rotates. ■ Hold the drill firmly and place the bit at the point to be drilled. ■ Depress the switch trigger to start the drill.
OPERATIO BATTERY GAUGE See Figure 11. USE ONLY WITH 25926 CHARGER ■ To display the amount of charge left in the battery, press and hold the battery gauge button. ■ If the battery gauge indicator light glows green, the battery pack is fully charged. ■ If it glows yellow, it has a usable charge remaining but will soon require recharging. ■ If it glows red, the battery requires recharging as indicated by the battery gauge symbols on top of the battery. LED WORKLIGHT See Figure 12.
MAINTENANCE CHUCK REMOVAL See Figures 13 - 15. The chuck may be removed and replaced by a new one. ■ Lock the switch trigger by placing the direction of rota tion selector in center position, ■ Insert a 5/16 in, or larger hex key into the chuck of the drill and tighten the chuck jaws securely. ■ Tap the hex key sharply with a mallet in a clockwise direction. This will loosen the screw in the chuck for easy removal. ■ Open the chuck jaws and remove the hex key.
MAINTENANCE GENERAL MAINTENANCE Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc. WARNING: When servicing, use oniy identical Craftsman replacement parts. Use of any other part may create a hazard or cause product damage. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when using compressed air to clean tools.
