Remember that a careless fraction of e second is sufficient to inflict severeinjury.
NOTE: Always check for interference between the blade and the silding miter fence BEFORE attempting to make a cut. TO BEVEL CUT See Figures34.35. A bevel cut is made by cutting across the grain of the workpiece with the blade angled to the workpiece. A straight bevel cut Is made with the miter table set at the zero degree position and the blade set at an angle between 0"and 45", • Pull out the lock pin and riftsaw arm to its full height. • Loosen the miter lock handle. • Lift the miter lock plats to disengage. • Rotate the saw table untilthe pointeraligns with zero on the miter scats. • Release the miter lock plate.

CU'I'I'ING CROWN MOLDING The compound miter sew does an excellentJobof cutting crown molding. In general, compound miter eaws do a better Jobof cuffing crown molding than any othertool made, When settingthe bevel and miter angles for compound miters, rememberthat the settingsare interdependent; changing one angle changes the other angleas well. Keep in mind that the angles for crown moldingsare very preciseand dl_cult to set.
molding. Also mostwalls do not have angles of exactly 90",therefore,you will need to fine tune your settings. When cutting crown molding by this method the bevel angte should be set at 0".The miter anglo shouldbe set at 45"either right or left, dopondingon the desired cut for the sppLLcation. Usingthe markings on the throat plata, you can accurately cut All Standard (U.S.)with 52"and 38"angles in sizes of 2-3/4 in., 3-5/8 in., 4-5/8 in., and 5-1/4.
MARIOHGSOH THROATPLATE WRONG CUTTING WARPED See Figures 43 - 44. MATERIAL Fig. 44 When cuttingwarped material, always make sure It Is positionedon the miter table with the convex side againstthe fence as shown in f_gure43. ,_ If the warped matedal Is positionedthe wrong way as shown in f_gum44, it will pinch the blade near the completion of the cut. WARN,|NG: To avoid a k_c_d_ack _d to avoid serious personaliniury, never positionthe concave edge of bowed or warped material agaLnstthe fence.
