BELT REPLACEMENT
Sea Figure4,9.
The sew is powered by a belt-drivenmotor.Periodioatly
checkthe belt for wear and replaceit when nscessery.
Proceed as follows when replacement Is required:
• Unplugthe saw.
_IL WARNING: Failureto unplugthe sew couldresultin
accidentalstartingcausingseriousInjury.
• Pullsaw arm all the way down and engage the lock pin
to hold thesew armin transportposition,
• Usinga phillipsscrewdriver,remove the screws from
the belt cover.Carefully lift the belt coveroffthe hous-
ing and set aside.
• Loosenthe adjustment screws.
• Loosenthe set screw on the motor housing,Pushthe
mot_r housing down unt'_lthere "LsenoughstackInthe
beltfor It to be removedfrom around the pulleys,
• Placethe new belt (groovesturnedto the Inside)
arouncithe bo'_ompul)ey.
• Pushthe motor housingdown with one hand while
pulllngthe bert up and overfne second pulleywith the
otherhand. Releasethemotor housing.
• Turnthe belt by hand untilyou are certainit isproperly
a)ignedonthe groovesofthe pulleys.
• Liftthe motorhousingup and retightenthe set screw,
• Check belttensionby squeezingthe belt. Usinglight
pressure,the beatshoutdde_ect approximately1/4 in.
NOTE=If belttension is not correct, adjust the set
screwuntiltension is correct.
• Once belttensionIs correct,retightenadjustment

I Reinstall the belt cover with the phillips screws.
