EXTERNAL SURFACES
If yourchainsaw is to be storedfora
periodoftime,cleanitthoroughlybe-
fore storage.Storeina cleandryarea.
• Lightlyoilexternal metal surfacesand
guidebar.
• Oilthe chainand wrapit inheavypa-
perorcloth.
FUEL SYSTEM
UnderFuelingEnginein the Operating
Sectionofthismanual,seemessage
labeled IMPORTANTregardingthe use
ofgasohelinyourchainsaw.
Fuelstabilizerisan acceptableaitema-
tivein minimizingtheformation offuel
gum depositsduringstorage.Addstabi-
lizertothe gasolineinthefueltankor
fuelstoragecontainer.Fellowthemix
instructions foundonstabilizercontain-
ers.Run engine at least5 minutes after
addingstabilizer.
CRAFTSMAN40:1,2-cycleengineoil
(aircooled)isespeciallyblended.with
fuel stabilizer.If youdonot use this
Searsoil,youcan adda fuel stabilizer
to your fuel tank.
ENGINE
• Removesparkp_ugand pourI tea-
spoonof40:1, 2-cycleengineoil(air
cooled)throughthesparkplugopen-
ing.Slowlypullthestarterrope8 to
10timestodistribute oil.
• Replacespark plugwithnewone of
recommendedtypeand heatrange.
• Cleanairfilter.
• Checkentireunitfor loosescrews,
nuts,andbolts. Replaceanydam-
aged,broken,orwornpads.
• At the beginning ofthenext season,
use onlyfresh fuel havingthe proper
gasolinetooil ratio.
OTHER
• Donotstoregasoline fromonesea-
sontoanother.
• Replaceyour gasolinecan if it starts
torust.
