STORAGE
GENERAL
The generator should be started at least once every seven
days and allowed to run at least 30 minutes. Ifthis cannot
be done and you must store the unitfur more than 30days,
use this infurmatJonas a guide to prepare it fur storage.

ENGINE:
= Run the engine for about five minutes to werm it+
o NOTE: Ifyou did use "gasohol," drain fuel tank, then
run engine untilengine stops from lack of fuel

BE SURE ENGINE IS COOL.
IMPORTANT: EXPERIENCE INDICATES THAT ALCO-
HOL-BLENDED FUELS (CALLED GASOHOL OR USING
ETHANOL OR METHANOL) CAN ATTRACT MOISTURE
WHICH LEADS TO SEPARATION AND FORMATION OF
ACIDS DURING STORAGE ACIDIC GAS CAN DAMAGE
THE FUEL SYSTEM OF AN ENGINE WHILE IN STOR-
AGE+ TO AVOID ENGINE PROBLEMS WHEN USING
GASOHOL, THE FUEL SYSTEM SHOULD BE EMPTIED
BEFORE STORAGE PERIODS OF 30 DAYS OR
LONGER, DRAIN THE GAS TANK, STARTTHE ENGINE
AND LET IT RUN UNTIL THE FUEL LINES AND CARBU-
RETOR ARE EMPTY. USE FRESH FUEL NEXT SEA-
SON SEE STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADDI-
TIONAL INFORMATION. NEVER USE ENGINE OR CAR-
BURETOR CLEANER PRODUCTS IN THE FUEL TANK
NOTE: Using a fuel additive such as Sears Craftsman ®t
Fuel Stabilizer, or an equivalent; will prevent gum deposits
from forming in the generator's fuel system.
o While engine is still werm0 drain oil from crankcase.
Refill with fresh oil. See SPECIFICATIONS for oil
recommendalJons on Page 1+
o Remove spark plug and pour about 1/2 ounce (15ml)
of engine oil into the cylinder+ Replace spark plug but
do not connect spark plug wire. Crank slowly 1odistrib+
ute oil,
cranking engine slowly.
o Install spark plug. Do not connect spark plug wire.
o Clean dirt, oil, and grease from cylinder, cylinder head,
fins, blower housing, rotating screen and muffler area.
o Store generator in clean, dry area.
GENERATOR:
o Clean the generator as outlined on Page 9 (=To Clean
the Generator'3,
= Check that cooling air slots and openings on generator
are open and unobstructed,
OTHER STORAGE _PS:
e Do not store gasoline from one season to another.
e Replace your gasoline can if it starts to rust. Rust
and/or dirt in your gasoline can cause problems v_e.
you use it with this unit.
o Do not store the generator under any plas_c cover,
Plastic cannot breathe, allowing moisture to form. This
condensation can cause your generator to rust.
OR PERMANENT DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
