ENGINE
TO ADJUST THROTTLE CONTROL CABLE
(See Fig. 35)
The throttle control has been preset at the factory and
adjustment should not be necessary. Check adjustment as
described below before loosening cable, if adjustment is
necessary, proceed as follows:
= With engine not running, move throttle control lever to
fast (,_) position.
= Check that speed control lever is against stop screw. If
it is not loosen casing clamp screw and pull throttle
cable until lever is against screw.. T ghten clamp screw
securely.

(See Figs. 35 and 36)
The choke control has been preset at the factory and
adjustment should not be necessary., check adjustment as
described below before loosening cabieo if adjustment is
necessary, proceed as follows:
° With engine not running, move choke control (located
on dash panel) to full choke (JXJ)position.
- Remove air cleaner cover, filter and cartridge plate to
expose carburetor choke (See "AIR FILTER" in the
Customer Responsibilities section of this manual).
° Choke should be closed° if it is not, loosen casing
clamp screw and move choke cable until choke is
completely closed Tighten casing clamp screw se-
curely.

TO ADJUST CARBURETOR (See Fig. 35)
The carburetor has been present at the factory and adjust-
ment should not be necessary° However, minor adjustment
may be required to compensate for differences in fuel,
temperature, altitude or loadoIf the carburetor does need
adjustment, proceed as follows:
o Be sure you have a clean air filter and the throttb
control cable is adjusted properly (see above)
- Start engine and allow to warm for five minutes. Make
final adjustments with engine running and shift/motion
control lever in neutral (N) position.
, The high idle is set at the factory and cannot be
adjusted..
• Idle speed settinq - With throttle control lever in slow
i,,_) positio'nl '_ngine should idle at 1200 RPM. If
engine idles too slow or fast, turn idle speed adjusting
screw in or out until correct idle is attained_
NOTE: The carburetor on this engine is low emission., tt is
equipped with an idle fuel needle with a limiter cap and is
not adjustable, Do not attempt to remove the limiter cap.
The limiter cap cannot be removed without breaking the
adjusting needle..
High speed stop is factory adjusted_ Do not adjust-damage
may resutL
IMPORTANT: NEVER TAMPER WITH THE ENGINE
GOVERNOR, WHICH IS FACTORY SET FOR PROPER
ENGINE SPEED OVERSPEEDINGTHEENGINEABOVE
THE FACTORY HIGH SPEED SETTING CAN BE
DANGEROUS.. IF YOU THINK THE ENGINE=GOVERNED
HIGH SPEED NEEDS ADJUSTING, CONTACT YOUR
NEAREST AUTHORIZED SERVICE CENTER/
DEPARTMENT, WHICH HAS PROPER EQUIPMENT AND
EXPERIENCE TO MAKE ANY NECESSARY
