BLY CONNECT BATTERY (See Figs. 2 and 3) i CAUTION: Do not short battery terminals. Before connecting battery, remove metal bracelets, wristwatch _ SEAT PAN bands, rings, etc. Positive terminal must be connected first to prevent sparking from accidental grounding. BOX DOOR • : Remove cardboard packing from seat pan and lift seat pan to raised position. • Open battery box door. • Remove terminal protective caps and discard.

Any attempt by the operator to leave the seat with the engine running and the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine. Select desired height of cut. • Start mower blades by engaging attachment clutch control. • TO STOP MOWER BLADES - disengage attachment clutch control.

(Useof leaded gasoline wilt increase carbon and lead oxide deposits and reduce Valve life). Do not mix oil with gasoline. Purchase fuel in quantities that can be used within 30 days to assure fuel freshness.

An unbalanced blade will cause excessive vibration and eventual damage to mower and engine. BRAKE • OPERATION If tractor requires more than six (6) feet stopping distance at high speed in highestgear, thenbrake must be adjusted.

Clean with a wire brush or compressed air to remove dirt and stubborn dried gum fibers. The fuel filter should be replaced once each season. If fuel filter becomes clogged, obstructing fuel flow to carburetor, replacement is required.

CAUTION: BEFORElever PERFORMING ANY SERVICE OR ADJUSTMENTS: Place gearshift in neutral (N) position. • Place attachment clutch in "DISENGAGED" position. • Turn ignition key "OFF" and remove key. • Make sure the blades and all moving parts have completely stopped. Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and place wire where it cannot come in contact with plug.

Make sure tires are properly inflated (See "PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS" on page 3 of this manual). SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS TO REPLACE (See Fig. 21) MOWER BLADE DRIVE BELT WITH PARKING BRAKE "ENGAGED" The mower blade drive belt may be rep aced without tools. Park the tractor on level surface. Engage parking brake. BELT REMOVAL • Remove mower from tractor (See 'q-o REMOVE MOWER" in this section of this manual). • Work bett off both mandrel pulleys and idler pulleys. • Pull belt away from mower. BELT INSTALLATION • Install new belt in reverse order of removal.
SERVICE AND ADJU TO ADJUST STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT TO START ENGINE WITH A WEAK BATTERY (See Fig. 25) If steering wheel crossbars are not horizontal (left to right) when wheels are positioned straightforward, remove steering wheel and reassemble per instructions in the Assembly section of this manual. _ teries. FRONT WHEEL TOE-IN/CAMBER The front wheel toe-in and camber are not adjustable on your tractor.
AND ADJUSTM TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT TO REMOVE HOOD AND GRILL ASSEMBLY (See Fig. 26) BULB • Raise hood. • Pull bulb holder out of the hole in the backside of the grill. • Raise hood. • Unsnap headlight wire connector. • Replace bulb in holder and push bulb holder securely back into the hole in the backside of the gdll. CIosehood. • Stand in front oftractor. Grasp hood at sides, tilt toward engine and lift off of tractor. To replace, reverse above procedures.
ICE AND ADJUSTMENTS ENGINE :: TO ADJUST THROTTLE (See Fig. 27) CONTROL : PRELIMINARY SETTING • Air cleaner assembly must be assembled to the carburetor when making carburetor adjustments. ° Be sure the throttle control cable is adjusted properly (see above). FINAL SETTING • Start engine and allow to warm for five minutes. Make final adjustments with engine running and shift/motion control lever in neutral (N) position, • Move throttle control lever to slow (,I_) position.

ALSO, EXPERIENCE INDICATES THAT ALCOHOL BLENDED FUELS (CALLED GASOHOL OR USING ETHANOL OR METHANOL) CAN ATTRACT MOISTURE WHICH LEADS TO SEPARATION AND FORMATION OF ACIDS DURING STORAGE.
