BRAKEOPERATION
Iftractor requiresmorethanfive (5)feetto
stop at highestspeedin highestgear on a
level,dry concreteor pavedsurface,then
brakemustbecheckedand adjusted.(See
"TO ADJUSTBRAKE"in the Service and
Adjustmentssectionof this manual).
TIRES
Maintainproperair pressurein all tires
(Seesidesof tirefor properPSI).
Keeptires free of gasoline,oil, or insect
controlchemicalswhichcanharmrubber°
Avoidstumps,stones, deep ruts, sharp
objectsandotherhazardsthatmaycause
tire damage°
NOTE:To sealtire puncturesand prevent
flat tires dueto slowleaks,tire sealantmay
be purchasedfromyourlocalpartsdealer.
Tire sealantalso preventstire dry rot and
corrosion,
OPERATORPRESENCESYSTEMAND
REVERSEOPERATIONSYSTEM(ROS)
Be sure operator presenceand reverse
operationsystemsareworkingproperly°If
yourtractordoesnotfunctionasdescribed,
repairthe problemimmediately.
The engineshould not start unlessthe
brake pedal is fully depressed,and the
attachmentclutchcontrolis inthe disen-
gagedposition.
CHECK OPERATOR PRESENCE
SYSTEM
Whenthe engineis running,anyattempt
bythe operatorto leavetheseatwithout
firstsettingtheparkingbrakeshouldshut
offthe engine.
. Whenthe engine is runningandthe at-
tachmentclutchis engaged,anyattempt
bythe operatorto leavethe seatshould
shut offthe engine°
Theattachmentclutchshouldneveroper-
ateunlessthe operator'is inthe seat,
CHECK REVERSE OPERATION(ROS)
SYSTEM
Whentheengineisrunningwiththeignition
switchintheengine"ON"positionandthe
attachmentclutchisengaged,anyattempt
bythe operator'to gointoreverseshould
shutoffthe engine.

(Normal Operating)
° When the engine is running with the ignition
switch in the ROS "ON" position and the
attachment clutch is engaged, any attempt
bythe operator to shift into reverse should
NOT shut off the engine°
BLADE CARE
For best results mower blades must be kept
harp. Replace bent or damaged blades,
CAUTION: Use only a replacement
blade approved by the manufacturer of your
tractor. Using a blade not approved by the
manufacturer of your tractor is hazardous,
could damage your tractor and void your
warranty.
BLADE REMOVAL
1_ Raise mowerto highest position to allow
access to blades,
NOTE: Protect your hands with gloves
and/or wrap blade with heavy cloth.
2, Remove blade bolt by turning counter-
clockwise,,
3. Install new blade with stamped "THIS
SIDE UP" facing deck and mandrel
assembly_
IMPORTANT: To ensure proper assembly,
center hole in blade must align with star
on mandrel assembly.
4. Install and tighten blade bolt securely
(45-55 Fto Lbs. torque),

IMPORTANT: Special blade bolt is heat
treated.
