c. Working on the right side of the tractor, insert a ⁄” drive ratchet
wrench, set to tighten, into square hole found on the idler bracket.

1. To remove the cutting deck, proceed as follows:
a. Place the PTO in the disengaged (OFF) position and engage the parking
brake.
b. Lower the deck by moving the deck lift lever into the bottom notch
on the right fender.
c. Working on the right side of the tractor, insert a ⁄” drive ratchet
wrench, set to tighten, into square hole found on the idler bracket.

d. Continue with Step 2 on page 27.
2. Use the wrench to pivot the deck drive pulley forward. See Figure 28.
WARNING
Avoid pinching injuries. Never place your fingers on the idler spring or
between the belt and a pulley while installing the belt.
3. Carefully remove the belt from around the PTO pulley.
4. Looking at the cutting deck from the right side of the tractor, locate the
bow-tie pin on the rear right side of the deck. See Figure 29.

5. Remove the bow pin and slide the deck pin out of the deck lift arm. See Figure 29.
6. Repeat the above steps on the tractors left side.
7. Pull the bow-tie pin out of the front deck lift rod securing it to the deck. See
Figure 30. Slide the deck lift rod out of the front hanger bracket.
