INSTALL MULCHER PLATE DEFLECTOR SHIELD (See Figs. 5A and 5B) o Install two latch hooks to rnulcher plate using screw, washer, Iock washer', and weld nut as shown. NOTE: Pre-assernble weld nut to latch hook by inserting weld nut from the top with hook pointing down. o Tighten hardware securely.

The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any adjustments or repairs° We recommend a wide vision safety mask over the spectacles or standard safety glasses. HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR TO SET PARKING BRAKE NOTE: Under certain conditions when tractor is standing !die with the engine running, hot engine exhaust gases may cause "browning" of grass.
TO ADJUST GAUGE WHEELS (See Fig. 8) TO TRANSPORT Adjust gauge wheels with tractor on a flat level surface° • Adjust mower todesired cutting height (See "TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT' in the Operation section of this manual). o With mower in desired height of cut position, gauge wheels should be assembled so they are slightly off the ground Install gauge wheel in appropriate hole with shoulder bolt, 3/8 washer, and 3/8-16 Iocknut and tighten securely.
TO START ENGINE (See Fig. 7) This engine on this product is designed for maximum performance and life if operated with the choke (N) fully open and the throttle controt in the fast (,_) position. To open the choke fully requires an engine warm-up period of several seconds to several minutes, depending on the temperature° After starting the engine, first open the choke slowly until the engine just begins to run smoothly,.

TO ADJUST CHOKE CONTROL (See Figs. 33 and 34) TO ADJUST CARBURETOR (See Fig. 33) The carburetor has been present at the factory and adjustment should not be necessary.. However, minor adjustment may be required to compensate for differences in fuel, temperature, altitude or toad. If the carburetor does need adjustment, proceed as follows: o Be sure you have a clean air filter and the throttle control cable is adjusted properly (see above)° ° Start engine and allow to warm for five minutes..
